Description
Algisium C2 and organic silicon
Algisium C2 is a water-soluble organic silicon active from Monaco. Its INCI is Methylsilanol Mannuronate: a silanol, the form of silicon used in cosmetics, linked to mannuronic acid, one of the building blocks of alginic acid from brown seaweed. Finished products should sit at pH 5.0 to 6.0. Follow the supplier technical data sheet for the dose. A 0.33 oz (10 mL) trial pack is the smallest size.
Why silicon in skin care
Silicon is a familiar element in firming care because it is associated with the support structures of skin, hair and nails. Organic silanols make it easy to work into water-based products, and the mannuronate part gives a natural marine angle that fits ocean and thalasso concepts.
What it does across categories
The supplier describes Algisium C2 as a multipurpose active. In face care it helps skin look smoother, firmer and more elastic and supports moisture and softness. In body care it appears in firming creams, belly and thigh gels, bust care and stretch mark care products. In hair care it supports stronger and shinier looking hair. Claims should stay cosmetic and visual.
Formats
Age care serums, wrinkle care creams and eye contour products are the core of a face range, with moisturizers and tone-evening fluids as easy additions. Light fluids, gel serums and concentrates show its non-greasy feel best.
Processing notes and partners
Add Algisium C2 to the water phase and keep the final pH between 5.0 and 6.0, since silanols are sensitive to pH outside that window. For a contour gel, combine it with caffeine, and for moisture add hyaluronic acid liquid. Keramare is another seaweed-based active for hair.
