Description

What this hyaluronic acid liquid is

Hyaluronic acid liquid 1% is a ready solution in which hyaluronic acid, usually in the form of sodium hyaluronate, is already dissolved in water at one percent. Hyaluronic acid powder hydrates slowly and tends to form lumps if it is added too fast; this liquid removes that step. You weigh it, add it and stir. The 1% figure in the name makes calculations easy: ten grams of solution bring 0.1 g of hyaluronic acid into a batch. The molecular weight, INCI and preservation of the lot are on the CoA.

Properties

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that binds a large amount of water and leaves a smooth, moist film on the skin. Products with it feel fresh and give a plumper, more hydrated look. A ready solution also contributes some viscosity, which can help build the texture of gels and serums. Because it is already dispersed, it creates no fisheyes or undissolved particles in transparent products.

Applications

The record lists moisturizing creams, gels, serums, toners, products for the eye and eyelid area, before and after sun products, after-sun care cosmetics and soothing products for the look of skin imperfections. It is a basic building block for hydrating serums, gel creams, eye gels, sheet mask essences and after-sun gels. It pairs well with Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer and with Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate for a multi-weight hydration story. Find more humectants in our cosmetic actives catalog.

How to use it

Add the solution to the water phase before thickening, or to the cooled batch below 40 °C. In emulsions, add it after emulsification and stir until uniform. Avoid long, very high shear, which can lower the viscosity of hyaluronic acid. Keep the pH in a mild range, roughly 5.0 to 7.0. Typical use levels for ready solutions are in the low percent range; follow the CoA for your lot.

Practical tips

Because the solution already contains water and often a preservative, include it in your preservative calculation and check compatibility with your own preservation system. In clear gels, add it last and mix slowly to avoid air bubbles; if bubbles form, let the gel rest before filling. For a light toner, a small amount gives slip without stickiness. For eye gels, combine it with caffeine and panthenol for a fresh feel.

Compatibility

The solution is compatible with glycerin, panthenol, niacinamide, peptides, plant extracts, cellulose and gum thickeners and nonionic emulsifiers. Cationic ingredients may form complexes, so test them. Strong acids, high electrolyte levels and oxidizers can reduce viscosity. Avoid enzyme-containing raw materials in the same product.

Characteristics

Form: liquid solution. Concentration: 1 percent hyaluronic acid. Solubility: water. Uses per our record: creams, gels, serums, toners, eye and eyelid care, sun-related products, soothing products. Molecular weight and INCI: on the CoA.

Original recipe: fresh eye gel, 100 g

Phase A: distilled water 78.60 g, glycerin 3.00 g, caffeine 0.80 g, panthenol 1.00 g. Warm slightly to dissolve the caffeine, then cool. Phase B: hydroxyethylcellulose 0.60 g predispersed in propanediol 3.00 g; add to A and stir until clear. Phase C below 40 °C: Hyaluronic acid liquid 1% 10.00 g, cucumber extract 2.00 g, preservative 1.00 g. Mix slowly, adjust pH to about 6.0 and fill into tubes with a metal tip.

Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.

Storage

Keep the bottle closed in a cool place away from heat and light. Reseal right after use to protect the solution from contamination. Ships from Florida in milliliter packs.
