Description

What this ingredient is

IO Soothing Plant Active Liquid is a liquid cosmetic active designed for calm, comfortable-feeling skin. What our product record does confirm is that it is a water-soluble liquid and that it is used in products for sensitive skin, care after intensive procedures and peels, night care with a microbiome angle, anti-stress cosmetics and moisturizers for skin from age 30.

Properties

A water-soluble liquid active fits easily into toners, gels, serums and emulsions without extra processing. This ingredient is positioned around comfort: skin that feels less tight, looks less red after stress and keeps a smooth, hydrated look. For brands, it offers a gentle story that works for sensitive-skin lines and for leave-on cosmetic serum kits sold by aestheticians. Keep claims cosmetic and focused on how skin looks and feels.

Applications

Typical products include soothing serums, light creams for reactive-looking skin, post-peel leave-on cosmetic use masks, night creams, toners and mist sprays. It pairs naturally with barrier ingredients such as Ceramide NP and with humectants like Hyaluronic acid liquid 1%. If you also want an oil-soluble centella ingredient, see Centella Asiatica Oil Extract. More water-soluble options sit in our cosmetic actives catalog.

How to use it

Prepare the base, cool it below 40 °C and add this ingredient with gentle stirring. In toners, add it after all solids are dissolved. In emulsions, add it after emulsification. Take the use level from the CoA and keep the finished pH close to that of skin, around 5.0 to 6.0. Avoid long heating once it is in the batch.

Building a sensitive-skin product

For sensitive skin, less is often more. Keep the ingredient list short, skip strong fragrance and essential oils, and choose mild preservatives that suit the audience. Combine this ingredient with panthenol, allantoin and glycerin for a classic comfort base. Test the product in a small user panel before launch and state on the label that a patch test is advisable for very reactive skin.

Compatibility

The liquid is compatible with water, glycols, glycerin, cellulose and gum thickeners, nonionic emulsifiers and most preservatives. It sits well beside panthenol, niacinamide, ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Avoid strong oxidizers. If you combine it with acids for a gentle exfoliating product, check pH and comfort carefully. In mist sprays, a small amount of a nonionic solubilizer keeps botanical components clear, and a fine-mist pump gives an even, comfortable application on reactive-looking skin.

Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.

Storage

Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool place away from light and heat. Reseal after use. Ships from Florida in the liquid pack sizes listed above.
