Ceramide NP explained

Ceramide NP is a skin-identical lipid. This product is a fine spherical powder sold by the gram. Our product record lists it as dispersible in oils and emulsion systems. Properties

Ceramide NP is valued for products that keep skin looking smooth, supple and well moisturized and that help it feel less dry and tight. Pure ceramide has a high melting point and a strong tendency to recrystallize, so the way you process it decides whether the finished cream feels silky or grainy. The fine spherical powder melts more evenly than coarse crystals, which helps in small batches.

Applications

The record lists serums, creams and emulsions, barrier products, masks, toners and essences, body lotions, restorative creams, moisturizing products, hair masks and conditioners. How to use it

Then emulsify with the hot water phase and cool with steady stirring. Rapid, even cooling helps prevent recrystallization. In toners and essences, use a solubilizing system recommended by the supplier. Take the use level from the CoA.

Preventing grainy textures

Graininess appears when ceramide recrystallizes during cooling or storage. Check a thin smear of the cream under a magnifier after one and four weeks. A smooth smear means the lipid is well integrated.

Compatibility

In the water phase it pairs with glycerin, niacinamide and panthenol. It is not water-soluble and will not dissolve in purely aqueous products. Avoid strong oxidizers and very low pH. In hair masks, add Ceramide NP with the fatty alcohols of the conditioning base, so it melts together with them and spreads evenly through the mask.

Original recipe: barrier care in cosmetic formulas-style cream, 100 g

Phase A: distilled water 66.40 g, glycerin 5.00 g, niacinamide 2.00 g, xanthan gum 0.20 g. Heat B until the ceramide melts completely, heat A to 75 °C, emulsify and cool while stirring. Phase C below 40 °C: panthenol 1.00 g, preservative 1.00 g, tocopherol 0.40 g. Adjust pH to about 5.5.

Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.

Storage

Keep the powder sealed in a cool, dry place away from light. Close the container right after use. Ships from Florida in gram packs.
