Description

Sensitive-feeling skin is one of the most common self-descriptions customers give. It stings with some products, flushes in the wind and feels tight after washing. IO Sensitive Skin Comfort Active is a water-soluble active whose name targets this group, with creams, lotions, masks, tonics and shampoos on its card.

Product data

Water-soluble. PH range 4.8 to 8. Applications from the card: creams, lotions, masks, tonics and shampoos. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.

Designing for sensitive skin

Sensitive-skin products work best with short ingredient lists, no or minimal fragrance, mild preservatives and gentle textures. The active is one part of a complete approach.

Product formats

Comfort cream

A daily cream for sensitive-feeling skin.

Body lotion

A gentle lotion after the shower.

Calming mask

A creamy mask for a pampering moment.

Gentle tonic

An alcohol-free tonic.

Sensitive-scalp shampoo

A mild shampoo for comfortable-feeling scalps.

Formulating guidance

Add the active during cool-down into the water phase and keep the finished pH within the listed range. For this ingredient, pair it with bisabolol for a calm-looking story, ceramide NP for barrier support and D-Panthenol for comfort. Ingredients that pair well with this ingredient are collected under actives.

Claims

Use cosmetic wording such as calm-looking, comfortable, less reactive-feeling skin. Support numbers with panel tests and redness-look measurements.

Who the products are for

Customers with sensitive-feeling skin or scalp, those reacting to fragrance and people in harsh climates.

Scalp comfort

Sensitive scalps feel tight or tingly after some shampoos. Mild surfactants plus a comfort active make a gentle shampoo.

Testing

Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C, checking pH, viscosity and appearance.

Packaging

Airless pumps keep sensitive-skin products clean and protected.

Batch quality

Keep the CoA for each lot and store retained samples.

Range planning

A cream, a tonic and a shampoo form a sensitive line for face and scalp.

Labeling

Use the INCI from the CoA on the label.

Preservation

Choose mild preservatives and confirm with a challenge test.

Routine guidance

Gentle cleanser, tonic, comfort cream morning and evening, mineral sunscreen in the morning, mask once a week.

Seasonal use

Winter is the peak season for reactive-feeling skin. Richer winter versions suit cold months.

Original recipe: comfort cream for sensitive skin, 100 g

Phase A: water 68.80 g, glycerin 3.00 g, IO Sensitive Skin Comfort Active 3.00 g as an example level per CoA, xanthan gum 0.20 g. Phase B: cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate 5.00 g, cetyl alcohol 1.50 g, squalane 6.00 g, shea butter 3.00 g, caprylic/capric triglyceride 5.00 g, ceramide NP 0.20 g. Heat An and B to 75 °C, emulsify and cool. Phase C below 40 °C: panthenol 1.50 g, bisabolol 0.30 g, preservative 1.00 g, lactic acid solution 1.50 g. Adjust pH to about 5.5.

Mask ritual

A creamy calming mask, applied for ten to fifteen minutes once a week, gives sensitive-feeling skin a pampering moment. Use a soft clay or cream base, avoid fragrance and rinse with lukewarm water. Describe the ritual on the pack so customers use it correctly.

Body lotion

A gentle body lotion extends the line to legs and arms that feel tight after showering.

Children's care

A fragrance-free lotion with the active suits children with sensitive-feeling skin. Use mild preservatives and test tolerance carefully.

Storage

Store the container closed in a cool place away from light.
