Description

Oat has comforted skin for generations, from oatmeal baths to colloidal oat creams. Fermentation adds a contemporary layer to that tradition. IO Oat Ferment for Sensitive Skin combines the two: an oat-based material processed by fermentation into a water-soluble liquid for sensitive, dry and easily irritated-feeling skin.

What the name tells us

Avena is the botanical genus of oat. Ferment indicates that the oat material has been processed with selected microorganisms, which changes its composition and gives a light, liquid ingredient. The exact INCI, organism and active content are confirmed on the supplier CoA for each lot and should be the basis of your ingredient list.

Applications from the card

Cosmetics for sensitive skin: serums, creams, masks. Care for the eyelid zone and for skin after cosmetic procedures. Products aimed at the skin microbiome. Care for men's, children's and mature skin. After-sun products and products for very dry skin.

Sensitive skin serums and creams

Short ingredient lists, no fragrance, a gentle emulsifier and the oat ferment as the hero.

Eyelid care

The eyelids have very thin skin and react easily. Light gels and fluids with the ferment and a humectant suit this area.

Men's care

Shaving often leaves skin feeling tight and reactive. A fluid after-shave balm with the ferment is a natural product.

After-sun and very dry skin

After sun exposure, skin often feels dry and tight. A cooling lotion with the oat ferment and panthenol gives comfort.

Microbiome-related claims

The card mentions products aimed at the skin microbiome. If you use this angle, describe it carefully and base any claim on tests of the finished product. Explain in simple terms that the formula is designed to be gentle and to respect the skin's natural balance.

Formulating guidance

Add the ferment during cool-down into the water phase and check the finished pH. For a lipid partner from the same plant, use oat seed oil, and for an extra soothing component, bisabolol. Find more comfort-focused concentrates under actives.

Communicating comfort

Customers with sensitive skin want clear, calm language: soothed-feeling, comfortable, less tight, less reactive-looking skin. Keep the vocabulary cosmetic and support claims with tests on people who describe their skin as sensitive.

Preservation

Gentle preservation systems are preferred in sensitive skin products, but they must still pass a challenge test. Ferments and plant materials can support microbial growth, so test the finished product carefully.

Building a sensitive skin range

A sensitive skin line usually needs only a few products: a gentle cleanser, a light fluid, a richer cream and perhaps an eye product. Using the oat ferment as the common ingredient gives the range a clear identity. Keep formulas short, avoid fragrance and essential oils, choose mild emulsifiers and limit the number of actives. Packaging with clear, readable labels and simple instructions reassures customers who are cautious about trying new products. Offer small sizes so they can test tolerance before committing to a full product.
