Description
Shaving, sun, wind and frequent hand washing all leave skin feeling stressed and looking rough. IO Skin Comfort Active Liquid Skin-appearance support AF is a liquid active designed for the products people reach for after these everyday moments: shaving gels, after-sun care, balms, body milks and hand creams.
Product data
Liquid, water-soluble. Applications: shaving gels, before and after-sun products, balms, body milks, creams and hand products. This ingredient is a line name associated with botanical actives, and the exact INCI, source and recommended level are confirmed on the supplier CoA for each lot.
Product formats
Shaving gel
A clear gel that gives glide during shaving and leaves the skin comfortable.
After-sun milk
A light body milk that cools and soothes the feel of sun-exposed skin.
appearance support-style balm
A rich balm for rough, dry patches on hands, elbows and feet.
Hand cream
A non-greasy hand cream for frequent use.
Pre-sun preparation
A light lotion used before sun exposure as part of a skin-comfort routine.
Formulating guidance
Add the active during cool-down into the water phase and check the finished pH. Combine with D-Panthenol and bisabolol for a classic comfort story, and with aloe vera gel for after-sun products. More comfort actives are listed under actives.
Claims
Use cosmetic wording: comforted, smoother-looking, softer skin; relief from the feel of tightness. Keep claims about sun-exposed skin cosmetic, and remind customers that after-sun care does not replace sunscreen.
Men's grooming
Shaving gels and after-shave balms are a natural entry point. Men often prefer light, fast-absorbing textures and discreet fragrance.
Seasonal planning
After-sun products sell in summer, hand creams and balms in winter. One active across both seasons simplifies purchasing and keeps the range active all year.
Testing
Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C. For gels, check clarity and viscosity; for body milks, check emulsion stability under freeze-thaw cycles.
Packaging
Tubes for gels and hand creams, pumps for body milks, jars for balms.
Hand care for frequent washing
Frequent hand washing and sanitizer use leave hands feeling dry and tight. A hand cream with the active, glycerin and a light oil phase restores comfort without a greasy film, so it can be used many times a day. Fast absorption matters most here: customers want to touch their phone or keyboard within a minute. Test absorption time with a panel and adjust the oil phase until the cream disappears quickly.
Batch quality
Record the lot number from the CoA, check appearance and odor on arrival and keep retained samples. Botanical actives can vary slightly from lot to lot.
Comfort products for sensitive-feeling skin
Many people describe their skin as sensitive after sun or shaving. Keep these products short and simple, with low fragrance and no harsh alcohol, and test them with a panel that includes self-declared sensitive users.
Original recipe: after-sun body milk, 100 g
Phase A: water 71.80 g, glycerin 4.00 g, aloe vera gel 5.00 g, xanthan gum 0.20 g. Phase B: cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate 3.50 g, caprylic/capric triglyceride 6.00 g, squalane 2.00 g, cetyl alcohol 1.00 g. Heat An and B to 75 °C, emulsify and cool. Phase C below 40 °C: IO Skin Comfort Active Liquid Skin-appearance support AF 2.00 g as an example level per CoA, panthenol 2.00 g, menthyl lactate 0.30 g, bisabolol 0.20 g, preservative 1.00 g, fragrance 0.30 g, lactic acid solution 0.70 g. Adjust pH to about 5.5.
Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.
