Description
OVALISS and the lower face
OVALISS is a liquid contour active from Sederma whose key molecule is glaucine, a plant-derived compound, carried in glycerin and water. The INCI is Glycerin, Aqua, Coco-Glucoside, Caprylyl Glycol, Alcohol, Glaucine. The liquid ranges from colorless to yellow-orange, dissolves in water and is used at 1 to 2.5% of the finished product, added to the active phase, with a finished pH between 5 and 7. A 0.33 oz (10 mL) trial pack is enough for several contour test batches.
What a contour product promises
The target is the look of the oval of the face, the chin and jawline and the neck. Products built with OVALISS are described by the supplier as helping the contour look more defined and the skin look firmer and more elastic, with a smoother, more toned look under the chin. Keep the wording visual, such as a more defined looking jawline, and leave slimming language out of the cosmetic claim file.
Formats that work
Face and neck serums in a light gel with a pump are the leading format, because they invite an upward massage along the jawline. Chin and contour creams, shaping masks and salon lifting care complete a premium range.
Working it into a batch
Add OVALISS to the water or active phase of a gel, or into an emulsion during cool-down below 40 °C, and stir until even. The carrier contains coco-glucoside and alcohol, so check clarity and foaming in very light gels. A short daily massage in the directions helps consumers use the product regularly.
Building a contour line
Adenosine adds a smoother looking surface, and caffeine gives contour gels a fresh, toning feel. For a peptide angle, Essenskin is another neck and contour active from the same supplier. Find more firming concentrates in our cosmetic actives section.
