Description

A dull, uneven complexion is not limited to one skin type or one age. It appears as a grey cast on darker skin, as patchy areas on lighter skin and as marks that linger after a blemish on almost everyone. IO Radiance and Even-Tone Active Liquid is a liquid active whose card speaks to that diversity, naming cosmetics for a multi-ethnic audience alongside classic radiance and tone products.

What the card tells us

Liquid, water-soluble, pH 5.0 to 6.5. Applications: cosmetics for dull and uneven skin tone, appearance-focused cosmetic serums and creams, products with a radiance and color-evening effect, post-blemish care, hand and décolleté creams and cosmetics for a multi-ethnic audience. The exact INCI and active content are confirmed on the supplier CoA for each lot, which should be the basis of your label.

Designing for every skin tone

Products for uneven tone have often been developed with one skin type in mind. A modern range considers how dullness, marks and uneven areas look on different complexions and tests the finished product on a diverse panel. Choose textures that do not leave a white cast, keep fragrance moderate and describe benefits in terms everyone can relate to: brighter-looking, more uniform-looking, more radiant skin.

Product formats

Radiance serum

A light serum used morning and evening, combining this ingredient with hydration ingredients.

appearance-focused cosmetic creams

Day and night creams that add tone evenness to firmness and comfort.

Post-blemish care

Light gels or fluids for skin that still shows marks after blemishes have cleared. Keep claims about appearance.

Hands and décolleté

These areas are exposed to sun all year and often show an uneven look. A dedicated cream is a good addition to a tone range.

Formulating guidance

Add the liquid below about 40 °C into the water phase and keep the finished pH within 5.0 to 6.5. Tone products are usually multi-ingredient, so pair this ingredient with niacinamide and with a stable vitamin C derivative such as 3-Glyceryl Ascorbate, checking the finished pH after each addition. A humectant base keeps the surface smooth so it reflects light evenly. More radiance concentrates are listed under actives.

Sun protection

No tone product can keep up with daily unprotected sun exposure. Recommend a broad-spectrum sunscreen in every routine guide and on product pages, and keep this ingredient product cosmetic rather than adding sun protection claims to it.

Evidence and claims

Use standardized photographs under consistent light, ideally with a color-checking chart, and consumer perception studies over several weeks. Describe results as brighter-looking, more even-looking and more radiant skin. Avoid language that suggests a change in pigment biology.

Packaging

Opaque airless pumps protect sensitive partners. Clean, minimal design with warm, inclusive imagery signals that the product is designed for all complexions.

Range planning

A serum, a day cream and a hand and décolleté cream with the same hero ingredient form a compact range. Shared bulk ingredients and testing data keep development efficient while the different textures serve different needs.
