Description
Some products need to be felt. A warming sensation tells the customer that a massage balm or contouring gel is working on the spot, and it turns a routine into a ritual. IO Warming Sensory Oil Active is a warming active for body-contouring products, sports balms and thermoactive masks.
Product data
Insoluble in water; well soluble in oils, alcohols and emulsion bases. Applications from the card: body cosmetics such as body-contouring creams, gels and serums; sports cosmetics such as warming balms, oils and creams; and skin care such as thermoactive masks and night creams. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.
How warming agents feel
Warming agents act on sensory receptors in the skin and create a sensation of heat without actually raising the temperature much. The intensity depends on level, base and skin type, and it can build over several minutes.
Product formats
Warming massage balm
An anhydrous balm for after sport.
Contouring gel
A gel with a warm, active sensation.
Body oil
A massage oil with a warming effect.
Thermoactive mask
A face or body mask that warms during wear.
Formulating guidance
Add the active to the oil phase, dissolve it in alcohol for gels or add it to the finished emulsion. Start low and increase slowly. Pair it with caffeine in contouring gels, IO Body Shaping Active Liquid for a body-modeling story and D-Panthenol for comfort. Ingredients that pair well with this ingredient are collected under actives.
Claims
Use cosmetic wording such as warming sensation, relaxing massage and smoother-looking skin. Avoid any claim about muscle or joint relief.
Safety and tolerance
Warming agents can be intense on thin or sensitive skin. Keep products away from eyes, mucous membranes and broken skin, and add usage notes: wash hands after use and do not use with heat wraps unless tested.
Who the products are for
Sports enthusiasts, massage therapists, spa clients and customers who like sensorial body care.
Panel testing
Test the sensation on several skin types and record intensity at one, five and fifteen minutes. Adjust the level until most panelists rate it pleasant.
Testing
Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C, checking texture, odor and sensation intensity.
Packaging
Tins and sticks for balms, tubes for gels, pump bottles for oils.
Batch quality
Keep the CoA for each lot and store retained samples.
Range planning
A warming balm, a contouring gel and a body oil form a sport and body line.
Original recipe: warming massage balm, 50 g
Sunflower seed oil 20.00 g, caprylic/capric triglyceride 12.00 g, beeswax 8.00 g, shea butter 8.00 g, IO Warming Sensory Oil Active 0.50 g as an example level per CoA, tocopherol 0.50 g, rosemary leaf extract 0.50 g, fragrance 0.50 g. Melt waxes and butters with the oils at 70 °C, cool to about 50 °C, add the active, tocopherol, extract and fragrance and pour into tins.
Contouring gels
In hydroalcoholic contouring gels, dissolve the active in ethanol before adding it to the gel. The warm sensation builds during massage and supports the customer's feeling that the product is active. Combine with caffeine and a cooling-free base, since warming and cooling agents together can confuse the sensation.
Thermoactive masks
Warming masks feel pampering in spa treatments. Keep levels low on the face and avoid the eye area.
Labeling
Use the INCI from the CoA on the label and add warnings such as avoiding the eyes and washing hands after use.
Gifting
A warming balm suits sports-themed gift sets.
Storage
Keep the container closed in a cool place.
