Description

About this ingredient

IO Plumping Care Active Liquid is a peptide supplied as a ready liquid concentrate for plumping and hydration care. Our product record confirms that it is water-soluble, added at cool-down and stable in a mildly acidic pH window. Full INCI and peptide content are listed on the CoA for every lot.

Why combine a peptide with hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid applied to the surface gives an immediate plumping and smoothing feel. A peptide positioned around the skin's own moisture matrix adds a longer-term layer to the story. Together they let a brand speak about both instant comfort and visible improvement over weeks, which is a stronger message than either ingredient alone.

Product formats

A clear plumping serum is the obvious hero. Hydrating day creams, cooling eye gels, lip plumping balms with a water phase and overnight moisture masks also suit the concentrate. Pair it with Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer for a cushiony film and with Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid 10-20 kDa for a lighter grade. More peptides are in our peptides catalog.

Processing

Hydrate the polymers fully, cool the base below 40 °C and stir in this ingredient gently. Avoid reheating. Electrolytes can reduce the viscosity of hyaluronic acid gels, so add charged ingredients slowly and check texture after each addition. Keep the final pH in the mildly acidic range noted in the product record.

The eye area

Fine lines around the eyes are often linked to dryness, so plumping hydration is a natural fit. A fragrance-free gel with a metal-tip applicator, a little caffeine and this ingredient creates a refreshing product that customers reach for every morning.

Lip care with a water phase

Most lip balms are anhydrous, but lip serums and gel glosses can carry water-soluble actives. A light lip gel with this ingredient, glycerin and a film former gives a plump, glossy look and a modern product format.

Claims and testing

Corneometer readings and surface profile measurements on the finished product support hydration and smoothing claims. Combine them with consumer perception of fullness. Keep the language appearance-based: plumper-looking, smoother, more hydrated.

Routine advice

Apply on slightly damp skin and follow with a moisturizer to keep humectants working comfortably, especially in dry climates. In the morning, finish with sunscreen.

Layered hydration systems

Brands that want to stand out often build a layered system instead of a single humectant. A high molecular weight grade stays on the surface and gives slip, a lower weight grade sinks in and feels lighter, a crosspolymer forms a cushiony film, and this ingredient adds the peptide story. Explaining these layers in simple words on the product page helps customers see the value of a premium serum.

Packaging and stability

Airless pumps protect watery gels from contamination and keep the texture consistent. Run stability tests at room temperature, at 40 °C and through freeze-thaw cycles, and watch viscosity closely, because hyaluronic acid gels are sensitive to small changes.
