Description
About this ingredient
IO Oily Skin Care Active Liquid, often written this ingredient, is an active supplied as a ready liquid concentrate.Supplier documentation lists serums, creams, appearance-focused cosmetic gels and moisturizers of any form, from serums to night creams. Our product record confirms that it is water-soluble and added at cool-down. The full INCI and active content are printed on the CoA for every lot.
Understanding the oily-skin customer
Shine on the forehead, nose and chin by midday is one of the most common everyday complaints. Customers with oily skin often fear moisturizers, over-cleanse and then feel tight and dry. They need light products that feel weightless, leave a matte finish and still keep the skin comfortable. A named balancing active gives them a reason to trust a moisturizer again.
Combining balance and appearance-focused cosmetic
Oily skin ages too, and many adults in their thirties and forties still deal with shine while starting to notice fine lines. The supplier's mention of appearance-focused cosmetic gels points to a valuable niche: light, mattifying products with an appearance-focused cosmetic story. These customers are often ignored by rich appearance-focused cosmetic creams.
Product formats
Mattifying face serums, oil-free gel moisturizers, light night fluids, T-zone gels and primers with a care story are the main formats. This ingredient pairs well with Niacinamide and Zinc PCA in a balancing system, and with light humectants for comfort. More actives are in our peptides catalog.
Processing
Prepare the base, cool it below 40 °C and stir in the concentrate gently. Avoid reheating. Keep the final pH mild and follow the CoA for the use level. Light gel bases built on cellulose or carbomer suit oily-skin products better than heavy emulsions.
Texture design for a matte finish
A matte finish comes from the base as much as from the active. Silica or starch powders, light esters and a low oil content help control shine immediately. A small amount of a film former improves wear under makeup. Avoid heavy butters and occlusive oils in oily-skin products.
Routine advice
Recommend a gentle cleanser, a balancing serum and a light moisturizer morning and evening, plus sunscreen during the day. Explain that over-cleansing can make the skin feel worse and that consistent, gentle care works better.
Men's products
Men often have oilier skin and prefer fast, simple routines. A two-in-one mattifying moisturizer with this ingredient and a fresh scent fits a quick morning routine and a modern men's range.
Claims and testing
Sebumeter readings and standardized photographs of shine on the finished product support claims such as less shiny-looking skin, a matte finish for hours and a more balanced-looking complexion. Combine them with consumer perception data.
