Description
Moisturizing is the base of every routine, and the best moisturizers copy what the skin already does. IO Moisturizing Complex Base is a water-soluble ingredient, associated in the market with a moisturizing complex inspired by the skin's own natural moisturizing factor.
Product data
Water-soluble. PH range 5.5 to 8.5. The card does not list applications or origin. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.
The NMF idea
The outer layer of the skin contains amino acids, lactates, urea, sugars and minerals that bind water. Together they are called the natural moisturizing factor. Washing and dry air reduce it. Complexes that combine several of these types of molecules give balanced, comfortable hydration.
Product formats
Daily face cream
A light emulsion for normal and dry skin.
Body lotion
A fast-absorbing lotion for after the shower.
Toner
A hydrating toner that prepares skin for serum.
Serum
A water-based serum with layered humectants.
Formulating guidance
Add the complex to the water phase and keep the finished pH within the listed range. Pair it with low molecular weight hyaluronic acid for deeper-feeling hydration, D-Panthenol for comfort and ceramide NP for a barrier story. Ingredients that pair well with this ingredient are collected under actives.
Claims
Use cosmetic wording such as hydrated, soft, supple skin. Support numbers with hydration measurements on the finished product at several time points.
Who the products are for
Customers with dry, tight-feeling skin, families looking for gentle body care and anyone in a cold or dry climate.
Texture tuning
Moisturizing complexes can add slight tack. Balance with light emollients and test the after-feel at five minutes.
pH guidance
The listed range starts at 5.5, so very acidic formulas are not a fit. Aim for a finished pH between 5.5 and 6.5 for face products.
Testing
Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C, checking pH, viscosity, color and odor.
Packaging
Pumps for lotions and creams, bottles for toners, droppers for serums.
Batch quality
Keep the CoA for each lot and store retained samples.
Family care
A gentle body lotion with this complex fits family ranges. Keep fragrance low and test on sensitive panelists.
Seasonal use
Richer versions for winter and lighter versions for summer can share the same complex and one clear claim.
Range planning
A toner, a face cream and a body lotion form a complete hydration routine around one ingredient.
Original recipe: daily body lotion, 200 g
Phase A: water 147.20 g, glycerin 6.00 g, IO Moisturizing Complex Base 8.00 g as an example level per CoA, xanthan gum 0.40 g. Phase B: glyceryl stearate citrate 6.00 g, cetearyl alcohol 4.00 g, sunflower seed oil 10.00 g, caprylic/capric triglyceride 10.00 g, dimethicone 2.00 g. Heat An and B to 75 °C, emulsify and cool. Phase C below 40 °C: panthenol 2.00 g, preservative 2.00 g, tocopherol 0.40 g, fragrance 0.40 g, lactic acid solution 1.60 g. Adjust pH to about 5.8.
Combining with cleansers
Mild cleansers can also carry a moisturizing complex. Adding it to a gentle body wash or facial cleanser helps the skin feel less tight after rinsing, which customers notice immediately. Check foam and viscosity after addition.
Children's and baby care
Gentle, low-fragrance lotions are a natural use. Choose mild preservatives, keep the ingredient list short and test on sensitive-skin panels before launch.
Men's care
A light, non-greasy face lotion with the complex suits men who skip moisturizer because creams feel heavy.
Storage
Keep the container closed in a cool, dry place.
