Description
Amino acids are the largest group in the skin's natural moisturizing factor, and complexes built on them give hydration that feels natural rather than sticky. IO Amino Acid Moisturizing Complex Liquid is a water-soluble ingredient associated with this approach, and its card covers skin, hair and shaving products.
Product data
Water-soluble. PH range 2.0 to 7.0. Applications from the card: skin care products such as creams, lotions, tonics and shower gels; hair care products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair tonics and hair creams; and cosmetics before and after shaving. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.
Amino acids and moisture
The outer skin layer contains free amino acids such as serine, glycine, alanine and arginine, along with PCA, lactate and urea. Together they bind water and keep the surface supple. Complexes modeled on this mix give balanced hydration and a light feel. In hair, amino acids help lengths feel soft and smooth.
Product formats
Daily cream
A light moisturizer for all skin types.
Hydrating tonic
A watery toner after cleansing.
Moisturizing shower gel
A cleanser that leaves skin comfortable.
Hair tonic

Formulating guidance
Add the complex to the water phase. Its wide pH range lets it sit in acidic toners as well as neutral creams. Pair it with low molecular weight hyaluronic acid for layered hydration, D-Panthenol for comfort and Polyquaternium-10 in shower gels. Ingredients that pair well with this ingredient are collected under actives.
Claims
Use cosmetic wording such as hydrated, soft, supple skin and soft, manageable hair. For this ingredient, support numbers with hydration measurements on the finished product.
Who the products are for
Customers with dry or dehydrated skin, families who want one moisturizer across products and men who shave daily.
Cleansers
In shower gels and shampoos, the complex helps skin and scalp feel comfortable after rinsing. Add it after the surfactants and check viscosity.
Sensory design
Amino acid complexes are usually light. Balance them with glycerin or a diol for cushion, and test after-feel at five minutes.
Testing
Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C, checking pH, viscosity, color and odor.
Packaging
Pumps for creams, bottles for tonics and gels, sprays for hair tonics.
Batch quality
Keep the CoA for each lot and store retained samples.
Range planning
A tonic, a cream and a shower gel form a hydration line, while a hair tonic and after-shave extend it.
Color stability
Amino acids can react with some sugars and fragrances over time and cause slight yellowing. Check color at 40 °C and under light.
Original recipe: hydrating tonic, 100 g
Purified water 86.70 g, IO Amino Acid Moisturizing Complex Liquid 3.00 g as an example level per CoA, glycerin 3.00 g, propanediol 3.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g, sodium hyaluronate 0.10 g, allantoin 0.10 g, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil 0.30 g, fragrance 0.10 g, preservative 0.80 g, citric acid solution 1.90 g. Dissolve hyaluronate in the glycols, add water and stir until smooth. Add the complex, panthenol, allantoin, the premixed fragrance and solubilizer and the preservative. Adjust pH to about 5.0.
Shaving products
Shaving removes part of the surface lipids and moisture. A light after-shave lotion with the complex helps skin feel comfortable and supple, while a pre-shave tonic softens the skin. Keep alcohol moderate and test immediately after shaving with a small men's panel.
Storage
Store the container closed in a cool, dry place.
