Description

This ingredient in brief

IO Mature Skin Active Liquid is a liquid active concentrate sold by the milliliter. It belongs to a family of similarly named ingredients in our catalog, alongside IO Stretch Mark Care Active Liquid and IO Oily Skin Care Active Liquid, each aimed at a different cosmetic concern. Our product record confirms that it is water-soluble and added directly to the water phase during cool-down. The INCI and active content are on the CoA for each lot.

The concern it addresses

Mature-looking skin shows several signs at once: fine lines, dullness, uneven tone, a tired look around the eyes. Customers prefer products that address these together rather than buying a separate product for each. A broad appearance-focused cosmetic active fits this expectation and lets a brand create a compact routine of two or three products with a shared hero ingredient.

Applications

Eye creams for a rested, brighter look, night creams, firming serums, day creams and neck creams are typical uses. This ingredient combines well with Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 Powder for fine lines and with humectants for comfort. Explore more in our peptides catalog.

How to use it

Finish the base and cool it below 40 °C. Weigh this ingredient into the batch and stir gently. Avoid reheating. Keep the pH in a mild range. Follow the CoA and supplier documentation for the use level.

Building a compact routine

A three-step routine works well for mature skin: a serum in the morning and evening, an eye cream and a night cream. Use this ingredient in all three at the levels on the CoA, and differentiate them through texture and partners such as caffeine in the eye cream and shea butter in the night cream. A shared visual identity and a clear order of use on the packs help customers follow the routine.

Comfort for mature skin

Mature skin often feels drier. Include generous humectants, a balanced blend of light and rich emollients and barrier lipids. Avoid high alcohol content and strong fragrance. A pump dispenser is easier to use than a jar for customers with reduced grip strength, and larger print on the label improves readability.

Stability checks

Store pilot samples at room temperature, in a warm cabinet and in the fridge, and compare color, odor, pH and viscosity weekly for a month. Record lot numbers of the concentrate. Stable results across all three conditions give confidence for scale-up and for your product file.

Compatibility

Liquid actives of this type are generally compatible with glycerin, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, niacinamide, caffeine, ceramides and peptides. Avoid strong acids, strong bases, oxidizers and long heating.

Fragrance choices

Many mature customers prefer soft, classic scents or no fragrance at all. Offer a fragrance-free version if possible. ## Characteristics

Form: liquid active concentrate. Solubility: water. Addition: water phase at cool-down. Positioning: mature-looking skin. INCI and active content: on the CoA. Supply: milliliter packs.

Original recipe: rich night cream for mature skin, 100 g

Phase A: distilled water 65.30 g, glycerin 5.00 g, xanthan gum 0.20 g. Phase B: cetearyl alcohol and cetearyl glucoside 5.00 g, shea butter 5.00 g, squalane 7.00 g, caprylic/capric triglyceride 5.00 g. Heat An and B to 75 °C, emulsify and cool. Phase C below 40 °C: IO Mature Skin Active Liquid at the level on the CoA, here 4.00 g; panthenol 1.00 g; niacinamide 1.00 g in a little water; tocopherol 0.50 g; preservative 1.00 g. Mix until smooth and adjust pH to about 5.8.

Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.

Storage

Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool place away from light. Reseal after use. Ships from Florida in milliliter packs.
