Description
About this ingredient
IO Mask Active Concentrate is a liquid active sold by the milliliter. Our product record confirms that it is water-soluble, added directly to the water phase during cool-down, and used in masks, creams, serums, lotions, toners and care cosmetics.
Hydration as a core benefit
Hydration is the foundation of almost every skin care routine. Customers want skin that feels comfortable and looks smooth and plump throughout the day. A water-soluble hydration active fits easily into every texture, from a watery toner to a rich cream, which makes it a versatile building block for a brand's whole range.
Applications
Our record lists masks, creams, serums, lotions, toners and care cosmetics. Practical examples include hydrating toners, gel creams, sheet mask essences, overnight masks and daily moisturizers. This ingredient pairs well with Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer and IO Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid 10-20 kDa for multi-level hydration. More options are in our peptides catalog.
How to use it
Cool the base below 40 °C, add this ingredient and stir gently. Avoid reheating. Keep the pH in a mild range. Follow the CoA for the use level.
Layering hydration
A layered approach combines ingredients that work at different levels of the skin surface: short-chain humectants for a light feel, long-chain or cross-linked ones for a lasting film and emollients to reduce water loss. A hydration concentrate like this ingredient can join this system as an additional humectant layer, giving the product a distinctive ingredient name.
Toners and essences
Thin products show every flaw, so clarity matters. Add the concentrate slowly, use a small amount of solubilizer if you add fragrance and filter before filling. Check the toner after a cold night, as some ingredients haze at low temperatures.
Masks
In wash-off and sleeping masks, a hydration concentrate adds comfort and a smooth after-feel. Sleeping masks benefit from a slightly occlusive layer such as squalane to hold moisture overnight.
Compatibility
Hydration actives are generally compatible with glycerin, hyaluronic acids, panthenol, betaine, niacinamide, plant extracts and peptides. Avoid strong oxidizers and long heating. Cationic ingredients may interact with anionic polysaccharides, so test them.
Cost per unit
Hydration concentrates are often used at a few percent. Calculate the cost per finished unit early, since toners and masks use larger fill volumes than serums and the active cost scales with them. ## Characteristics

Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.
