Description
Most oils and emollients come with a price in cleansing products: they make foam weaker. IO Jojoba Gloss Agent is described as an emollient that does not suppress foaming, which is exactly what shampoo and body wash developers look for when they want shine and softness without losing lather.
Product data
Liquid, water-soluble. The card describes it as a structural component for oils, an emollient that gives shine to hair and nourishes the skin, a dispersant for pigments and an ingredient that does not suppress foaming. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.
Three roles from the card
Emollient
It gives hair visible shine and leaves skin feeling soft.
Structural component for oils
It can help build the texture of oil-based products such as balms and glosses.
Pigment dispersant
It helps spread pigments evenly in color cosmetics, which reduces streaks and specks.
Product formats
Glossy shampoos, conditioners, shine sprays, body washes with a soft after-feel, lip glosses and tinted balms are all natural homes for this ingredient.
Formulating guidance
In shampoos and body washes, add it after the surfactants and check foam height and viscosity. In conditioners, pair it with IO Conditioning Honey Derivative and D-Panthenol for slip and moisture. For color cosmetics, pre-wet pigments with it before adding them to the base. A shine spray can combine it with hydrolyzed keratin for a care story. More ingredients are listed under actives.
Testing foam
Run a simple cylinder shake test or a hand-lather test with and without the ingredient. Compare foam volume, bubble size and rinse feel. Record the results so the claim of unchanged foam is backed by your own data.
Who the products are for
Customers with dull, dry hair who still want rich lather, and brands that want a jojoba story in cleansing products.
Claims
Use cosmetic wording such as shiny, soft, smooth hair and soft-feeling skin. Name jojoba only as permitted by the INCI on the CoA.
Color cosmetics
Pigment dispersion matters in lip and face products. Grind the pigment paste with the ingredient and check under a microscope or on a drawdown card for even color.
Testing
Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C, checking viscosity, clarity, odor and foam.
Packaging
Standard plastic bottles for cleansers, tubes for glosses, fine-mist sprays for shine products.
Original recipe: shine shampoo, 100 g
Purified water 60.40 g, sodium laureth sulfate solution 24.00 g, cocamidopropyl betaine 8.00 g, IO Jojoba Gloss Agent 2.00 g as an example level per CoA, glycerin 1.50 g, Polyquaternium-10 0.30 g, panthenol 0.50 g, preservative 0.80 g, fragrance 0.50 g, sodium chloride 1.50 g, citric acid solution 0.50 g. Disperse the polymer in water, add the surfactants and the remaining ingredients, adjust viscosity with salt and pH to about 5.5.
Lip products
In lip glosses and tinted balms, the ingredient can help pigments spread evenly and add shine. Combine it with a gloss base and test spreadability, wear time and color payoff. A smooth, even swatch is the quickest way to see whether the dispersion is right.
Range planning
A shine collection with a shampoo, a conditioner and a gloss spray lets the same ingredient appear across the range and supports a clear brand story.
Batch quality
Keep the CoA for each lot, compare appearance and odor on arrival and store retained samples.
Who uses glazes
Salon brands like glazes in finishing products, while retail brands use them to lift the feel of budget shampoos without changing the surfactant base.
Storage
Store the container closed in a cool place away from direct light.
