Description

About this ingredient

IO Hydration Serum Concentrate is an active sold as a ready liquid concentrate for hydration care. Our product record confirms that it is water-soluble, added at cool-down and comfortable at a mild pH. The full INCI and active content are on the CoA for every lot.

Beyond applying hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid serums are everywhere, and customers increasingly ask what makes one different from another. An active positioned around the skin's own moisture system gives a brand a second layer to the story: the formula delivers hyaluronic acid to the surface and also includes an ingredient chosen for the skin's own hydration processes. This message works well for buyers who have tried several basic serums already.

Product formats

A clear hydrating serum is the obvious hero. Plumping day creams, cooling eye gels, overnight moisture masks and hydrating toners also suit the concentrate. Pair it with Ultra Low Molecular Sodium Hyaluronate and Hyaluronic Acid Liquid for a multi-weight system. Related actives are collected in our peptides catalog.

Processing notes

Prepare the gel or emulsion, cool it below 40 °C and stir in this ingredient slowly. Avoid reheating. High electrolyte levels can thin hyaluronic acid gels, so add salts and charged actives carefully and check viscosity after each step. Keep the pH mild and follow the CoA for the use level.

Layering advice for customers

Hydrating serums work best on slightly damp skin, followed by a cream that seals moisture in. Printing a simple two-step routine on the box helps customers get the result they expect. In dry climates, recommend always following with an emollient layer, because humectants alone can leave the skin feeling tight.

Eye care application

The eye area responds well to light, watery textures. A gel with this ingredient, a little caffeine and a soothing botanical, dispensed from a cooling metal applicator, is a simple and appealing product. Keep it fragrance-free.

Claims and testing

Corneometer readings on the finished product, measured at several time points, support hydration claims. Combine them with consumer perception of plumpness and smoothness. Use wording that describes the look and feel of hydrated skin.

Toners and essences

Lightweight watery products are popular in multi-step routines. A hydrating essence with this ingredient, a little glycerin and a soothing botanical can be patted into the skin after cleansing and before serum. Because the texture is so thin, a low level of a film-forming polymer helps it feel substantial without stickiness.

Seasonal positioning

Hydration sells all year, but the message changes. In winter, focus on comfort and protection against dry indoor air. In summer, highlight a weightless, refreshing feel and the ability to wear the product under sunscreen. One base with two marketing stories can cover both seasons.

Range planning

A small hydration line could include an essence, a serum and a gel-cream, all sharing the same active and a consistent color code. Customers who see a complete system often buy two or three pieces together.
