Description

About this ingredient

IO Brightening Serum Active Liquid is a liquid active sold in milliliter packs. Our product record places it in appearance-focused cosmetic and brightening care: serums, day and night creams and eye care products. It is water-soluble and is added directly to the water phase during cool-down. Exact composition, INCI and the recommended level are printed on the CoA for each lot, and that document should guide your label. This page explains how to use a liquid brightening active in practical product design.

The brightening and appearance-focused cosmetic overlap

Many shoppers want two things from one serum: a brighter, more even-looking tone and a smoother, younger look. Combining both goals in one product is efficient for the customer and for the brand. This ingredient is listed for exactly this overlap, so it works as a supporting or hero ingredient in radiance serums and in creams for skin that looks dull and tired.

Applications

Radiance serums, brightening day creams with sun protection partners, night creams, eye creams for a brighter look under the eyes and essence toners are typical uses. It pairs naturally with Niacinamide and with Kojic Dipalmitate in an emulsion. Explore more in our peptides catalog.

How to use it

Cool the base below 40 °C, then weigh this ingredient into the batch and stir gently. Avoid reheating. Keep the pH in a mild range, usually 5.0 to 6.5 for brightening products. Follow the CoA for the use level.

Building a tone-focused system

Brightening products work best as systems. A typical system combines one ingredient for an even-looking tone, one for radiance, a humectant for a plump, light-reflecting surface and daytime sun protection in the routine. This ingredient can take the radiance role. Add a gentle exfoliating component in a separate product if you want a stronger routine, rather than overloading one formula.

Light and color stability

Some brightening ingredients change color when exposed to light or air. Run your stability test with one sample in daylight and one in the dark, and compare them weekly. Opaque bottles and airless pumps protect the product. If the base yellows slightly, a chelator and an antioxidant such as tocopherol usually help.

Compatibility

Liquid actives of this type are generally compatible with niacinamide, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, stable vitamin C derivatives and peptides. Avoid strong oxidizers and long heating. Check the pH after adding acidic partners.

Explaining radiance to customers

Radiance is a visual quality: skin that reflects light evenly and looks fresh. Help customers recognize it by describing what they will notice, such as a brighter look in daylight and a smoother surface under makeup, after a few weeks of regular use. Simple language works better than technical terms on the front of the pack, while the INCI on the back reassures experts. ## Characteristics
