Description

Coloring, bleaching and daily heat styling leave their mark on hair: rough lengths, faded color, split ends and a straw-like feel. A growing share of hair care sales comes from products that promise to restore a healthy look to such hair. IO Hair appearance support Active Liquid is a liquid active designed for this segment, with a card that covers daily care, intensive masks and heat styling.

Product data

Liquid, water-soluble. PH ranges listed on the card: 4.0 to 5.5 and 3.5 to 5.5. Applications: shampoos and conditioners for daily care of damaged and colored hair; masks and serums for deep appearance support-look care and nourishment; heat styling products used with hair dryers or straightening irons. Check the INCI, active content and recommended level on the supplier CoA that ships with every lot.

Why acidic pH suits damaged hair

Hair care products are usually slightly acidic. At this pH the cuticle tends to lie flatter, hair feels smoother and color looks more vibrant. The pH ranges on the card fit this practice, so this ingredient slots easily into conventional shampoo and conditioner bases.

Product formats

Color-care shampoo

A mild sulfate-free shampoo with the active for daily use on colored hair.

Conditioner

A rinse-off conditioner that leaves hair smooth and easy to detangle.

appearance support mask

A weekly mask for deep conditioning, the strongest format for a appearance support claim.

Heat styling spray

A leave-in spray applied before blow-drying or flat ironing, combining the active with film-formers.

Formulating guidance

Add the active during cool-down into the water phase. Keep the finished pH in the range listed on the card. Combine with cationic conditioners in conditioners and masks, and with a cationic polymer in shampoos. For bond-focused concepts, our catalog includes Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate; for protein support, Phytokeratin. More hair actives are listed under actives.

Claims

Keep claims visible and tactile: smoother, softer, shinier hair, less breakage when brushing, color that looks vibrant for longer. For heat protection claims, test the finished product with an appropriate method.

Testing on swatches

Bleached hair swatches are the standard tool. Compare combing force, shine, split ends and feel after several wash cycles with and without the product. Photos under consistent lighting make strong marketing material.

Range planning

A four-step routine of shampoo, conditioner, mask and heat spray covers the needs of most customers with damaged hair. Using one hero ingredient across the line builds recognition.

Salon partnerships

Professional stylists see damaged hair every day. Offering them a backbar size of the mask and the heat spray builds credibility and word of mouth.

Heat protection details

Heat styling tools can reach temperatures above 200 °C. Leave-in products used before styling should spread evenly through the lengths, dry without stickiness and leave a light film. Film-formers such as PVP/VA copolymer and polyquaternium-11 help, and the active supports the appearance support-look story. Advise customers to apply the spray to towel-dried hair, comb it through and let it dry slightly before using a hot tool.
