Description
Few hair care innovations have changed salon services as much as bond-building products. Since their introduction, many colorists add them to bleach and color mixes and recommend matching products for home use. Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate is the INCI name of the molecule widely associated with this category, and we offer it as a water-soluble liquid.
The bond-care concept
Hair strength depends partly on disulfide bonds between keratin chains. Bleaching and chemical processing break many of these bonds, leaving hair weak and prone to breakage. Bond-building products are marketed to help preserve and restore the look and feel of hair strength during and after such processes. Bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate is the best-known ingredient in this group.
Specifications from the supplier specification
Liquid, water-soluble. Applications: hair products, hair conditioners and products for damaged nails. Active content and recommended level are confirmed on the supplier CoA for each lot.
Product formats
Salon additive
A concentrated liquid mixed into bleach or color during a service. Professional products need clear instructions and compatibility testing with the color system.
Pre-shampoo or mask
A home-use product applied to damp hair before shampooing and left for a set time. Despite common market wording, describe it as a mask or pre-wash step rather than as a clinical process.
Conditioner
A daily conditioner with the bond-care ingredient for maintenance.
Nail care
The supplier specification lists products for damaged nails. Nail serums and strengtheners for brittle-looking nails are a natural extension.
Formulating guidance
Add the ingredient to the water phase and check the finished pH; bond-care products are typically slightly acidic. In conditioners, check compatibility with cationic emulsifiers. Combine with proteins such as hydrolyzed keratin and with appearance support-look actives such as IO Hair appearance support Active Liquid. More hair actives are listed under actives.
Claims
Use visible and tactile wording: stronger-looking hair, less breakage when brushing, smoother and softer hair after coloring. Support claims with swatch tests on bleached hair, measuring breakage and combing force.
Professional channel
Colorists are the most demanding audience. Provide a technical sheet with mixing ratios, compatibility notes and a recommended home-care routine. Salon sizes and backbar formats build professional loyalty.
Home-care channel
Customers who color their hair at home also buy bond-care products. A simple routine with a pre-wash mask and a conditioner suits them.
Testing
Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C. For salon additives, test the effect on lightening speed and color result with the bleach and color systems you plan to recommend.
Usage instructions that work
Bond-care products succeed when customers use them correctly. Give clear directions: apply to damp hair, distribute evenly from mid-lengths to ends, leave for the time stated on the pack, then shampoo and condition. Weekly use suits most damaged hair, with more frequent use after a bleach service. In salons, mixing ratios must be printed clearly on the technical sheet.
