Description
A marine ferment, not a peptide sequence
Exo-P is sold in our peptide section, but its active is a marine exopolysaccharide: a sugar-based polymer produced by fermentation of an Alteromonas microorganism. The published INCI is Water (Aqua) (and) Butylene Glycol (and) Alteromonas Ferment Extract, and CAS is Mixture. It is used in anti-pollution and "skin shield" leave-on products that speak to everyday urban exposure.
How exopolysaccharides work in a formula
Exopolysaccharides are large, water-loving molecules. In a formula they give a smooth, slightly cushioned feel and help hold water at the skin surface, which supports a protective, comfortable positioning. That sensory profile is part of why brands like them in day creams and city-themed serums.
Formulating with Exo-P
Process
Add the solution in the water phase during cool-down, below 40 °C, and mix gently. Butylene glycol in the vehicle blends easily into water phases.
Bases
Day creams, light fluids worn under makeup, mists and serums are typical. Record pH and viscosity before and after addition. Take the use level from the supplier documentation for your lot.
Not to be confused with
Exo-P is not the Canadian Sturgeon Caviar Peptide and not Marine Peptide; both of those are peptide solutions of different origin. It is also not a defined synthetic hexapeptide.
Example: city-defense day fluid architecture
A light emulsion, glycerin, Exo-P added after cooling, an antioxidant blend such as Antioxidant Complex T-5 and a validated preservative. Exact levels come from the supplier documentation. Anti-pollution claims need testing on the finished product, so plan it early.
Claims
Keep claims cosmetic and supported: skin that feels protected and comfortable, a fresher look after a day in the city.
Lot handling and storage
Record appearance and pH on arrival, compare them with the CoA, and keep the CoA with your batch records so each finished batch can be traced to its lot. Store tightly closed, cool and away from light.
Building a city-defense range
Anti-pollution products often come as a small range: a light day fluid, a mist that can be used during the day, and a cleansing step in the evening. Exo-P fits the leave-on steps, where it stays on the skin. A soft, non-sticky feel matters for products worn under makeup, so keep the base light and test it with common foundations before launch.
