Description

This ingredient in short

IO Cream Active Liquid is a liquid ingredient that dissolves in water and serves both skin care and hair care. Our card lists three groups of uses. For the skin, it appears in creams, serums and masks meant to help skin look restored and renewed. For hair, it appears in shampoos and conditioners for hair that feels stronger and a scalp in better condition. In professional settings, it is used in balms. The working pH range of the finished product is 5.0 to 7.0, and the full INCI is on the supplier CoA.

A two-category ingredient

Ingredients that work in both skin and hair products are practical for small brands. One raw material can support a face serum, a mask and a conditioner, which simplifies purchasing and stock control. It also lets a brand tell a consistent story across categories, with the same named ingredient appearing on several products in a line.

Skin care uses

Serums and creams

A serum is the most direct way to bring the ingredient to the face. Keep the base light, with glycerin and a little hyaluronate, and add this ingredient at cool-down. In creams, the ingredient stays in the water phase while emollients give comfort.

Masks

Cream masks and gel masks are listed too. A wash-off mask with clay or a leave-on sleeping mask both work, as long as the ingredient is added after heating and the pH stays in range.

Hair and scalp uses

Shampoos and conditioners take water-soluble ingredients easily. Add this ingredient to the cooled base of a conditioner, or to the end of the shampoo process after the surfactants are combined. For the scalp, a leave-on tonic gives longer contact time than a rinse-off product.

Processing

Add the ingredient to the water phase below 40 °C and mix until uniform. Check the pH of the finished product and keep it between 5.0 and 7.0. The card does not print an use level, so take it from the CoA for your lot. Avoid long heating after the addition.

Partners

Panthenol, amino acids, hydrolyzed proteins and glycerin are natural companions in both skin and hair products. In a scalp tonic, a cooling note from Menthol Liquid adds a fresh feel. A protein partner for conditioners is Silk Protein. Further water-phase choices appear in the cosmetic actives section.

Testing and records

Run a stability test on each product type you develop, because a conditioner, a serum and a mask behave differently over time. Check pH, color, odor and viscosity at the start and after several weeks in a warm cabinet. Keep the CoA of each lot with the batch file and copy the full INCI from it into your labels. For hair products, a simple panel that rates combing, softness and shine before and after use gives useful material for honest pack copy.

Original recipe: restoring hair conditioner, 100 g

Distilled water 84.10 g, cetearyl alcohol 5.00 g, behentrimonium chloride 2.50 g, glycerin 2.00 g, IO Cream Active Liquid 3.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g, hydrolyzed silk 1.00 g, preservative 1.00 g, fragrance 0.40 g. Heat water with the cationic and fatty alcohol to 75 °C, mix, cool and add the rest below 40 °C.

Choosing the format first

Because the card spans skin, hair and professional balms, decide early which product will be the hero. A mask or serum suits a face-led brand, while a conditioner suits a salon-led brand. Launching one product first and adding the others later keeps development focused.

Storage

Keep the container closed in a cool place away from light. Close it soon after each use.
