Description
Trade names often hint at chemistry, but only the supplier documents confirm it. IO Daily Face Cream Active Emulsion is a water-soluble liquid active whose card lists creams, serums and care cosmetics, and whose name hints at amino acids, glycine and possibly a vitamin C-type component. The CoA is the place to check.
Product data
Liquid, water-soluble. For this ingredient, applications from the card: creams, serums and care cosmetics. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.
Reading the name carefully
It is tempting to build a story from a trade name. Resist it until the CoA confirms the INCI. If the documents list a vitamin C derivative, stability testing for color and pH becomes even more important, since many vitamin C forms change color over time.
Product formats
Daily serum
A water-based serum for radiance and hydration.
Day cream
A light emulsion for daily use.
Night cream
A richer cream for the evening.
Toner
A hydrating toner with the active.
Formulating guidance
Add the active during cool-down into the water phase and record the pH. Pair it with 3-glyceryl ascorbate for a vitamin C story if the documents support it, niacinamide for an even-tone message and D-Panthenol for comfort. More ingredients are listed under actives.
Claims
Base claims on supplier documentation and tests of the finished product. Without data, keep wording to radiance, hydration and feel.
Who the products are for
Customers who want a simple, daily routine for brighter-looking, comfortable skin.
Color stability
Store samples at 40 °C and under light, and photograph them weekly against a white card. Any yellowing or browning suggests the need for opaque packaging, a chelating agent or a lower pH.
Antioxidant support
A small amount of a chelating agent and an antioxidant can slow color change in water-based products. Test the effect in your base.
Testing
Run full stability at room temperature, 40 °C and under light, checking pH, color, odor and viscosity.
Packaging
Opaque airless pumps and amber glass protect sensitive actives.
Batch quality
Keep the CoA for each lot and store retained samples.
Labeling
Use the INCI from the CoA on the label rather than the trade name.
Range planning
A serum and a day cream are a good starting pair.
Original recipe: radiance serum, 100 g
Purified water 84.40 g, glycerin 3.00 g, propanediol 4.00 g, IO Daily Face Cream Active Emulsion 3.00 g as an example level per CoA, niacinamide 2.00 g, sodium hyaluronate 0.20 g, hydroxyethylcellulose 0.60 g, panthenol 1.00 g, sodium phytate 0.10 g, preservative 1.00 g, sodium citrate solution 0.70 g. For IO Daily Face Cream Active Emulsion, disperse cellulose and hyaluronate in the glycols, add water and hydrate. Add niacinamide, the active, panthenol, phytate and preservative below 40 °C. Adjust pH to about 5.5.
Test plan
Build three small batches at low, middle and high levels within the supplier recommendation. Store them at room temperature, at 40 °C and under light for four weeks. Compare pH, color, odor and viscosity weekly, then run a short sensory panel. This plan shows which level is stable and pleasant before you invest in packaging and claims testing.
Supplier questions
Ask the supplier about the composition, heat stability, recommended pH and level, and known incompatibilities. File the answers with the product record so the team can refer to them later.
Preservation
Confirm the preservative system with a challenge test on the finished product.
Sun advice
Recommend sunscreen every morning with any radiance routine.
Storage
Store the container closed in a cool place away from light.
