Description

Collagen is the most abundant protein in skin, and the word alone sells products. In personal care, collagen-derived ingredients act at the surface: they form a soft film, bind moisture and give skin and hair a smoother feel. Collagen Amino Acid Complex Liquid is a liquid ingredient in this group, notable for how easily it blends with water, alcohol and glycols.

Specifications from the card

Liquid. Soluble in water, alcohol, propylene glycol, pentylene glycol, glycerin and similar solvents. PH range 4.8 to 8.0. Applications: hair cosmetics, serums, creams and balms. The INCI, collagen source and active content are confirmed on the supplier CoA for each lot. If you sell to vegan or halal markets, check the source carefully before labeling.

Why solubility matters

Many protein ingredients cloud or precipitate in alcohol. A collagen ingredient that stays compatible with ethanol and glycols opens formats such as clear hydroalcoholic hair sprays, scalp tonics and fast-drying serums. It also makes cold-process work easier, since the liquid can be stirred into a finished base without heating.

Hair applications

Leave-in sprays and tonics

A clear spray with the collagen, panthenol and a light polymer gives softness, shine and a fuller feel to fine hair.

Conditioners and masks

The collagen film complements cationic conditioning agents for a smoother, more manageable result.

Styling products

Light hold gels and creams benefit from the film and the moisture-binding behavior.

Skin applications

In serums and creams, collagen-derived ingredients give a smooth, slightly cushioned surface and help the skin feel hydrated. In balms they soften the feel of heavy waxes and butters.

Formulating notes

Add the liquid during cool-down, below about 40 °C, into the water phase or into a hydroalcoholic system. Keep the finished pH within 4.8 to 8.0. Check clarity in transparent products. Preserve water-based products well, since protein-based ingredients can support microbial growth. A related marine collagen ingredient in our catalog is Hydrolyzed Marine Collagen Liquid, and hydrolyzed keratin offers a complementary protein for hair. Labeling and claims

Collagen in a cosmetic acts on the surface. Describe results as smoother, softer, more hydrated-feeling skin and softer, shinier hair. Avoid suggesting that topical collagen replaces the skin's own collagen.

A quick lab check

Before scaling, mix a small amount of this ingredient with ethanol in the ratio of your intended product and leave it overnight. Clear, homogeneous solutions confirm suitability for hydroalcoholic formats.

Matching the customer

Collagen remains one of the most searched beauty words. Customers who look for it want a sense of plumpness on the skin and body and fullness in the hair. A brand can meet that interest honestly by explaining that the ingredient acts on the surface: it smooths, softens and helps hold moisture. A simple routine card that shows how the spray, serum and cream fit together encourages customers to try more than one product. Keep the fragrance light and the textures fresh so that daily use feels effortless.

Original recipe: collagen volume spray, 100 g

Purified water 78.20 g, ethanol 10.00 g, Collagen Amino Acid Complex Liquid 4.00 g as an example level per CoA, glycerin 1.50 g, panthenol 1.00 g, PVP/VA copolymer 2.50 g, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil 0.80 g, fragrance 0.20 g, preservative 0.80 g, citric acid solution 1.00 g. Dissolve the copolymer in water, add glycerin, panthenol and the collagen liquid. Premix fragrance and solubilizer in ethanol and add slowly. Add the preservative and adjust pH to about 5.0.
