Description

About CERAMIDE A2

CERAMIDE A2 is a trade-name liquid concentrate listed in our cosmetic actives catalog and sold by the milliliter. Our product record describes it as a liquid active that goes into the water phase during cool-down. The details a formulator needs for a label, including the full INCI, the type and amount of ceramide and the carrier system, are printed on the CoA for each lot. We point you to that document instead of repeating figures we cannot verify for every lot, and this text concentrates on product design and handling.

Why ceramide ingredients are popular

Ceramides are lipids naturally present in the outer layer of the skin, where they help hold moisture in. In cosmetics they are associated with a comfortable, smooth, well-moisturized look and with skin that feels less dry and tight. Pure ceramides are waxy solids that are hard to process, so many suppliers offer them as liquid concentrates, emulsions or liposomes that blend into a batch at low temperature. CERAMIDE A2 belongs to this convenient group.

Applications

Barrier creams, daily moisturizers, serums for dry or sensitive-looking skin, hand creams, body lotions, baby-style gentle creams and after-sun lotions are typical uses for ceramide concentrates. Brands often combine them with Ceramide NP or Vegetal Ceramides to build a richer lipid story. You can compare more barrier ingredients in our cosmetic actives catalog.

How to use it

Prepare the emulsion or gel and cool it below 40 °C. Weigh CERAMIDE A2 into the batch and mix gently until uniform. Avoid high shear for long periods after addition and do not reheat. Use the level on the CoA for your lot. Keep the finished pH in a mild range close to skin.

Getting the most from a barrier product

Ceramides work best in good company. Emollients like squalane and caprylic/capric triglyceride add slip and comfort. A pump or tube keeps the product clean. Simple, fragrance-free bases suit the dry and sensitive audience that searches for ceramide creams.

Compatibility

Liquid ceramide concentrates are generally compatible with nonionic emulsifiers, humectants, cellulose and gum thickeners, niacinamide, panthenol and peptides. Very high levels of ethanol or strong surfactants can disturb dispersed lipids, so they are less suited to clear tonics or cleansers. Avoid strong oxidizers and long heating. Check the specific limits on the CoA. In gels, choose thickeners that tolerate dispersed lipids, such as xanthan gum or sodium polyacrylate, and test viscosity after 24 hours, since lipid concentrates can slightly thin some carbomer gels.

Characteristics

Form: liquid active concentrate. Addition: water phase at cool-down. INCI, ceramide content and shelf life: on the CoA. Supply: milliliter packs as shown in the selector.

Original recipe: barrier comfort cream, 100 g

Phase A: distilled water 68.30 g, glycerin 5.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g, xanthan gum 0.20 g. Heat A and B to 75 °C, emulsify under high shear and cool with gentle stirring. Phase C below 40 °C: CERAMIDE A2 3.00 g, niacinamide 2.00 g dissolved in a little water, preservative 1.00 g. Mix until smooth and adjust pH to about 5.5.

Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.

Storage

Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool place away from light and heat. Do not freeze. Ships from Florida in milliliter packs.
