Description
What Ceramide Lotion is
Ceramide Lotion is a ceramide concentrate in the form of a lotion-like emulsion of medium viscosity. The ceramides are already dispersed, so the product can be stirred into a batch at low temperature without melting waxy crystals. It comes . Our product record lists it as dispersible in water and partially soluble in glycols. The full INCI, ceramide content and emulsifier system are printed on the CoA for each lot, and that document should guide your label and calculations.
Properties
Ceramides are among the main lipids in the outer layer of the skin. In cosmetics they are linked to a smooth, comfortable, well-moisturized look and to skin that feels less dry. The lotion format makes them easy to dose: the concentrate pours slowly, blends into gels and creams, and leaves no grainy residue. It also suits scalp care, where a light, non-greasy feel matters.
Applications
The record names serums, creams, emulsions, emollients, masks, lotions, appearance-focused cosmetic care, after-sun care, sensitive skin care, dermatocosmetic-style products, scalp care, products for newborns, personal care and restorative care. Practical examples are daily moisturizers, barrier serums, overnight masks, scalp lotions and gentle baby creams. Combine it with Ceramide NP for a richer cream or with Hyaluronic acid liquid 1% for a hydrating serum. More barrier ingredients are in our cosmetic actives catalog.
How to use it
Stir the container gently before weighing, then add the lotion to the water phase or to the cooled batch below 40 °C with slow mixing. In emulsions, it can go into the finished emulsion during cool-down. Avoid long, very high shear. Keep the pH in a mild range close to skin. Use the level on the CoA for your lot.
Products for delicate skin
Because the record mentions newborn and sensitive skin care, many brands use Ceramide Lotion in very mild bases. Keep the formula short, leave out fragrance and essential oils, and choose a preservative suitable for the audience. Combine it with glycerin, panthenol and a gentle emollient such as caprylic/capric triglyceride. Test the finished product with a small user panel before launch.
Compatibility
The lotion is compatible with nonionic emulsifiers, glycerin, glycols, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, niacinamide and peptides. High levels of ethanol, strong anionic surfactants and very low pH can break the emulsion, so it is less suited to clear toners and cleansers. Avoid strong oxidizers. Check the viscosity of carbomer gels after addition. Because the concentrate already contains an emulsifier, you may be able to reduce the emulsifier in your own cream slightly; test this in a small batch first.
Characteristics
Form: lotion-like emulsion of medium viscosity. Solubility per our record: dispersible in water, partially soluble in glycols. INCI and ceramide content: on the CoA. Storage: cool, do not freeze.
Original recipe: gentle barrier body lotion, 100 g
Phase A: distilled water 75.30 g, glycerin 4.00 g, xanthan gum 0.20 g. Phase B: cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate 3.50 g, caprylic/capric triglyceride 6.00 g, sunflower seed oil 3.00 g. Heat A and B to 75 °C, emulsify and cool with stirring. Phase C below 40 °C: Ceramide Lotion 5.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g, allantoin 0.20 g dissolved in warm water, preservative 0.80 g, water 1.00 g. Mix slowly until uniform and adjust pH to about 5.5. Fill into a pump bottle.
Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.
Storage
Keep the container closed in a cool place away from light and heat. Do not freeze. Stir gently before use. Ships from Florida in gram packs.
