Description

About Vegetal Ceramides

Vegetal Ceramides is a ready liquid concentrate of plant-derived ceramide-type lipids. It gives brands a barrier story with a botanical origin, which suits natural and vegan-leaning ranges. Our product record lists it as added at cool-down and comfortable in a mild to near-neutral pH window. The full INCI, plant source and active content are printed on the CoA for every lot, and the source should be checked before any origin claim appears on a label.

Plant ceramides versus synthetic ones

Skin-identical ceramides are produced by fermentation or synthesis, while plant ceramides come from sources such as grains and are often glycosylated. Both are used in barrier care. Plant ceramides appeal to customers who prefer botanical ingredients and to brands building a natural story. Explain the difference honestly instead of claiming one is simply better.

Skin care formats

Barrier creams, rich night creams, dry-skin body lotions and comfort hand creams are the main skin formats. The concentrate pairs well with Ceramide 3 in Liposomes for a mixed ceramide system and with plant oils rich in linoleic acid. Browse more in our actives catalog.

Hair care formats

Hair has its own lipid layer, and conditioning products often borrow the ceramide story from skin care. Rinse-off conditioners, leave-in sprays, hair masks and products for color-treated or heat-styled hair are good homes. Pair with Hydrolyzed Keratin for a combined strength and smoothness message.

Processing

Prepare the emulsion or conditioner base and cool it below 40 °C before adding Vegetal Ceramides with gentle stirring. Avoid reheating. Keep the final product within the pH window in the product record and follow the CoA for the use level.

Natural positioning

For a natural range, combine the concentrate with an olive-derived emulsifier, plant butters, glycerin and a gentle preservative system accepted by natural standards. Keep synthetic fragrance out and describe the plant source accurately.

Winter care

Cold air and indoor heating dry out skin and hair at the same time. A seasonal duo of a barrier cream and a leave-in conditioner, both built on Vegetal Ceramides, makes a strong winter bundle with consistent messaging.

Claims and testing

Transepidermal water loss and hydration measurements support skin claims. For hair, combing force and shine measurements on tresses support conditioning claims. Use wording such as supports the skin barrier, softer-feeling skin and smoother-looking hair.

Compatibility notes

Ceramide concentrates are generally comfortable with glycerin, panthenol, plant oils, niacinamide and cationic conditioning agents. Run a stability program at room temperature, at 40 °C and through freeze-thaw cycles, and check that the conditioner stays smooth without separation.

Packaging

Pumps suit face and body creams, while trigger sprays work well for leave-in conditioners. Recyclable or refillable packs reinforce a natural positioning.
