Description
This ingredient at a glance
IO Botanical Balancing Complex Liquid is a water-soluble liquid active concentrate. Its INCI is a botanical blend of yarrow, joazeiro bark, lemon, sage, mint, rosemary, quillaja and garlic extracts with silanediol salicylate, butylene glycol and triethanolamine, used at 1 to 8%. The supplier positions it especially for oily hair and scalp care. It lists an unusually broad range of applications, from face serums to foot creams and deodorants.
Reading a broad application list
When an ingredient is listed for face, hair, feet and underarms, it often has a general role such as balancing, refreshing or conditioning. Without supplier data, it is best to describe the product by its texture and experience and to save specific claims until the data sheet confirms them.
Product formats
Serums and age-defying gels
Light water-based products for the face.
Moisturizers from serums to night creams
Any texture of moisturizer.
Hair masks and hair cosmetics
Conditioning masks and leave-in products.
Foot creams
Refreshing creams for tired feet.
Deodorants
Roll-ons and sprays.
Processing
Add the concentrate to the water phase at cool-down, below about 40 °C, and avoid prolonged heat. Keep the final pH between 5.5 and 7.0.
Good partners
Niacinamide suits face products. Menthol crystal adds freshness to foot creams, and Hydrolyzed keratin suits hair masks. Browse more in the actives catalog.
Testing
Check pH and stability across the chosen formats. Ask the supplier for efficacy data before making claims.

Questions for the supplier
Ask for the composition, the mode of action, the recommended level for each product type and any test data. Ask whether the active is suitable for deodorants and how it behaves with alcohol or aluminum-free deodorant bases.
One active, many products
A versatile active can anchor a whole range, from a face serum to a foot cream. Keep the base formulas suited to each body area and test each format separately.
Directions for users
Write clear, simple directions for each format, such as twice daily on feet or morning and evening on the face.
Record keeping
Note the concentrate lot, the product format and the final pH for each batch.
Lot records
Keep each CoA with the batch file and note the lot used.
Deodorant tips
In deodorant roll-ons and sprays, keep the base simple and test on volunteers for comfort and scent over a full day. Water-based roll-ons need a thickener and a reliable preservative.
Storage
Store closed as the CoA directs. Close the container after use.
