Description

What this ingredient is

IO appearance-focused cosmetic Serum Active Liquid is a liquid active publicly documented as being based on teprenone, a molecule also called geranylgeranylacetone. Teprenone has been studied in connection with the aging of skin cells, which gave rise to a longevity-themed skin care story. The molecule is oil-loving, so commercial grades are usually supplied in a carrier that makes them easy to add to emulsions. This page sells the concentrate in milliliter packs. The exact INCI, carrier and active content are printed on the CoA for each lot.

Properties

This ingredient is positioned for comprehensive appearance-focused cosmetic care: skin that looks smoother, more even in tone, more radiant and younger overall. That broad profile suits hero products such as a signature serum or night cream. The longevity angle connects well with modern consumer interest in healthy aging, as long as claims stay focused on appearance.

Applications

Signature appearance-focused cosmetic serums, night creams, day creams, eye creams and neck creams are typical. This ingredient combines well with NAD+ in a longevity line and with IO Collagen Peptide Powder (Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4) for fine lines. Browse more in our peptides catalog.

How to use it

Read the carrier information on the CoA first. Most grades are added during cool-down, below 40 °C, into the finished emulsion with gentle stirring. Avoid reheating. Keep the pH in a mild range. Use the level given in the supplier documentation.

Choosing the right vehicle

Because teprenone is oil-loving, emulsions are the natural vehicle: creams, lotions and fluid emulsions. For a serum, choose a light emulsion or a gel-cream rather than a purely aqueous gel, unless the CoA confirms that the carrier is water-dispersible. Test clarity and stability in your chosen base before scaling.

Longevity-themed storytelling

Healthy aging is a strong trend, but it invites exaggeration. Keep the message grounded: a product that helps skin look smoother, more even and more radiant with regular use. Explain the ingredient in one sentence and focus marketing on the experience and visible appearance rather than on biology.

Protection from light and air

Many oil-loving actives are sensitive to oxidation. Add tocopherol to the oil phase, use a chelator in the water phase and fill into airless or opaque packaging. Run stability with a light-exposed sample next to a dark control.

Compatibility

The concentrate is generally compatible with emollients, emulsifiers, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, peptides and antioxidants. Avoid strong oxidizers and long heating.

Skin types and routines

This ingredient-based creams suit most skin types. For oily skin, a light fluid works better; for dry skin, a richer night cream. Pair them with daily sun protection in the routine. ## Characteristics
