Description
Healthy skin holds water with the help of a mix of small molecules known as natural moisturizing factor. Amino acids make up a large part of that mix. Products that supply amino acids aim to support the skin's own moisture system and leave the surface softer and more comfortable. Amino Acid Complex Liquid is a liquid amino acid complex for this purpose, and its card extends it to hair and family care.
Product profile
This ingredient is a water-soluble liquid with a pH range of 5.0 to 6.5 according to the product card. It is added to the water phase. The exact amino acid composition, INCI and recommended level are listed on the supplier CoA for each lot.
Why amino acids work in hair care
Hair proteins are built from amino acids, and weathered hair loses some of its internal material. Small amino acids can adsorb to and penetrate the outer layers of the fiber, helping hair feel softer and look more conditioned. In shampoos and conditioners they also help buffer the pH and support a gentle overall formula.
Applications from the card
Moisturizers, shampoos, creams, balms, conditioners and masks; sunscreens and after-sun creams; cosmetics for children.
Everyday moisturizers
Face and body creams that aim for comfort rather than a dramatic effect. Amino acids give a soft, natural finish.
Sun and after-sun care
After a day outdoors skin often feels tight and dry. After-sun lotions with amino acids, aloe and panthenol make a comforting product. In sunscreens, the complex can sit in the water phase of the emulsion; regulated filters follow their own rules.
Hair care
Shampoos, conditioners and masks for softness and manageability.
Family and children's products
Gentle, fragrance-light formulas for the whole family. Any product for children requires an appropriate safety assessment.
Formulating guidance
Add the complex to the water phase during cool-down and check the finished pH, keeping it between 5.0 and 6.5. Amino acids can react with reducing sugars and some aldehydes over time, which may cause slight yellowing, so check color during stability tests. Pair the complex with D-Panthenol and a humectant such as glycerin for a classic comfort base, or with aloe vera juice for an after-sun concept. More moisture ingredients are listed under actives.
Communication
Explain the link to natural moisturizing factor in simple words and keep claims sensory: more hydrated, softer, more comfortable skin; softer, easier-to-manage hair. These are easy to support with simple panel tests.
Range ideas
A family line with a body lotion, an after-sun gel, a mild shampoo and a conditioner can share the amino acid complex as a common thread. Keep fragrance light and textures simple so the products suit many skin types and ages.
Testing tips
Run stability at three temperatures for several weeks and check pH, viscosity, color and odor. For hair products, compare wet combing and softness on swatches against a base without the complex.
