Sunflower SHT in brief

Sunflower SHT is a liquid ingredient with a sunflower story that dissolves in water. It is not the familiar sunflower seed oil; it is a water-phase material that fits serums, essences and gels. Hair and scalp ideas

Shampoos and hair masks take water-phase ingredients without trouble. For the scalp, a leave-on serum gives longer contact. Keep the pH of each product inside the 3.0 to 6.0 range from the supplier specification.

Process

Add Sunflower SHT to the water phase below 40 °C and stir until uniform. In surfactant products, add it at the end of the process with low shear to avoid foam. Take the use level from the supplier documentation for your lot.

Partners

Panthenol, glycerin, betaine and plant waters are easy companions. For a richer body product, a plant oil such as Oat Seed Oil in the oil phase adds comfort. A second botanical in the water phase could be Goji Berry Extract. More water-phase ingredients are collected under cosmetic actives.

Quality notes

Botanical liquids can vary slightly in color and odor between harvests. Keep a retained sample of every lot and compare each new delivery with it before production. Record the lot number on the batch sheet and keep the CoA with it. Stability tests should include pH, color and odor checks at room temperature and in a warm cabinet, especially for after-sun products that may be stored in hot bags and cars.

Original recipe: after-sun body lotion, 100 g

Phase A: distilled water 64.70 g, aloe juice 10.00 g, glycerin 4.00 g, xanthan gum 0.30 g. Phase B: cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate 4.00 g, sunflower seed oil 6.00 g, oat seed oil 2.00 g, cetyl alcohol 1.50 g. Phase C: Sunflower SHT 4.00 g, panthenol 1.50 g, preservative 1.00 g, fragrance 1.00 g. Heat A and B to 75 °C, emulsify, cool and add C below 40 °C.

Starting small

With such a long application list it is tempting to launch many products at once. A better approach is to start with one essence or after-sun lotion, collect feedback for a season, and then extend Sunflower SHT into hair and spa products. Each new format needs its own stability test, so a staged launch also spreads the testing workload over time.

Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.

Storage

Keep closed in a cool place away from light. Close the bottle right after use.
