Description

Visible pores are one of the top concerns for people with oily and combination skin, and one of the hardest to address cosmetically. IO Pore Refining Active Liquid is an active positioned for the look of pores, and its card gives an important processing note: it works best in emulsions.

Product data

PH range 4.0 to 8.0. Solubility: in emulsion; dissolution in water is possible only at low levels. The card does not list applications. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.

Why emulsions

Limited water solubility means that a clear water serum can only hold a small amount. In an emulsion, the active can be dispersed more freely. This makes light fluids, gel-creams and primers the natural formats for it.

Product formats

Mattifying fluid

A light emulsion for daily use on oily skin.

Pore-refining primer

A silky base worn under makeup.

Gel-cream

A fresh cream for combination skin.

Night fluid

A light emulsion for evening use.

Formulating guidance

Add the active to the emulsion according to the supplier instructions, usually during cool-down, and keep the finished pH within the listed range. Pair it with niacinamide for an oil-balance story, IO Pore and Oily Skin Care Active Liquid for a pore-focused duo and silica for a matte finish. More ingredients for oily skin are listed under actives.

Claims

Use cosmetic wording such as refined-looking pores, smoother texture and less shine. Support numbers with image analysis or panel tests on the finished product.

Who the products are for

Customers with oily or combination skin, those with visible pores on the nose and cheeks and makeup users who want a smooth base.

Primer texture

Primers rely on silicones or silicone alternatives and powders for a blurring effect. Combine the active with a light silicone elastomer and silica, then test makeup wear over six hours.

Mattifying powders

Silica, starch and clays absorb oil and reduce shine. Add them in small amounts and check that the product does not feel dry.

Testing

Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C, checking viscosity, separation and appearance.

Packaging

Pumps and tubes protect fluids and primers and are easy to use daily.

Batch quality

Keep the CoA for each lot and store retained samples.

Range planning

A fluid, a primer and a gel-cream form a compact pore-refining line.

Routine guidance

Recommend a gentle cleanser, the fluid in the morning under sunscreen and the gel-cream at night.

Original recipe: mattifying fluid, 100 g

Phase A: water 72.70 g, glycerin 3.00 g, niacinamide 3.00 g, xanthan gum 0.20 g. Phase B: cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate 3.00 g, isoamyl laurate 6.00 g, dimethicone 3.00 g. Heat An and B to 75 °C, emulsify and cool. Phase C below 40 °C: IO Pore Refining Active Liquid 2.00 g as an example level per CoA, silica 2.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g, preservative 1.00 g, fragrance 0.10 g, lactic acid solution 3.00 g. Adjust pH to about 5.5.

Why pores look larger

Pores look more visible when skin is oily, when the surface is rough or when skin loses firmness with age. A routine that controls shine, smooths texture and keeps skin hydrated helps pores look smaller. Explaining this on the product page sets realistic expectations and helps customers combine products sensibly.

Makeup users

Primers are judged by how foundation looks after six to eight hours. Run wear tests with several foundation types and photograph the results in consistent lighting.

Sun advice

Recommend daily sunscreen, ideally a light, oil-free texture that matches the fluid.

Storage

Store the container closed in a cool place away from light.
