Description
This ingredient at a glance
IO Pore Care Crystal Powder is a crystal powder that dissolves in water, with a working pH range of 5 to 6 on the card. The points to its purpose: products for skin where pores look enlarged. Beyond these points the card is short, so the supplier data sheet and CoA are the references for the INCI name, the recommended level and any test data behind claims. Build the formula around what is known: a water-soluble crystal and a mildly acidic target pH.
Why pores look larger
Pores look bigger when skin is oily, when the edges of the pore lose firmness and when dead cells and sebum collect at the opening. Shine and uneven texture make them stand out even more. Pore-care products work on the look of the skin through several routes at once: they help control shine, smooth the surface and refine the overall texture.
Product formats
Refining serums
A light, water-based serum is the most direct format for a pore-focused active.
Toners
Clear toners at pH 5 to 6 suit the active well and fit into a daily routine after cleansing.
Light day creams
Gel creams and fluid emulsions with a matte finish complete a pore-care range.
Masks
Clay or gel masks can carry the active for a weekly ritual of deep cleansing and smoothing.
Processing
Dissolve the crystals in the water phase at room temperature and stir until clear. Add thickeners and other ingredients afterward. Measure the pH at the end and adjust into the 5 to 6 range with a mild acid or base. Preserve the water-based product with a broad-spectrum system.
Good partners
Niacinamide and zinc salts are classic partners in pore and shine care. IO Texturizing Starch Powder gives a matte finish, and the Pore Minimizer spheres add an instant soft-focus effect. Browse more in the actives catalog.
Testing
Use image analysis to count and size visible pores before and after several weeks of use. Sebumeter readings help support shine claims.
Claims
Pores look smaller and refined; skin looks smoother and less shiny.

Original recipe: pore-refining toner, 100 g
Distilled water 90.20 g, butylene glycol 3.00 g, glycerin 2.00 g, IO Pore Care Crystal Powder 1.00 g, niacinamide 2.00 g, panthenol 0.50 g, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin 1.00 g, citric acid 0.30 g. Dissolve IO Pore Care Crystal Powder and niacinamide in water, add the glycols and panthenol, preserve, then adjust the pH to 5 to 6.
Instant and long-term effects
The best pore products combine an instant effect with ongoing care. Soft-focus powders blur pores right away, while water-soluble actives work over weeks of daily use. A serum with both gives users a reason to keep using it after the first impression.
Oily and combination skin
Most people who worry about pores also have oily or combination skin. Keep the oil phase light, choose non-greasy emollients and add a shine-control powder. A fresh, quick-drying texture makes daily use more pleasant.
Range ideas
A refining toner, a pore serum and a matte gel cream make a simple three-step pore routine.
Lot records
Keep each CoA with the batch file and note the lot used.
Pore care for different ages
Younger skin often shows pores because of oil and shine, while mature skin shows them because the skin around the pore looks less firm. A pore range can address both: a mattifying gel for oily skin and a firming-look serum for mature skin, each with the same pore-refining active at its core.
Storage
Store closed in a dry place. Close the container after use.
