Description
Plant oil complexes give formulators a ready-made lipid blend with a single trade name. IO Plant Oil Complex is a liquid complex of this type, listed in our carrier oils category and positioned for moisturizers, appearance-focused cosmetic creams and care for mature and sensitive skin, with an additional role in hair care.
Product data
Liquid, soluble in oils and fatty alcohols. Applications: moisturizers, appearance-focused cosmetic cosmetics, creams for mature skin, creams for sensitive skin, protective creams and hair care cosmetics. The exact INCI, oil composition and recommended level are confirmed on the supplier CoA for each lot. Use that document for the ingredient list, since a complex may contain several oils and an antioxidant.
Why use a lipid complex
A cream's oil phase determines its feel, its protective film and much of its sensory identity. Building an oil phase from many individual oils gives flexibility but adds purchasing and quality work. A complex delivers a balanced blend in one step and makes batch-to-batch consistency easier.
Product formats
Moisturizer
A daily cream with the complex as a key part of the oil phase.
Mature skin cream
A richer cream for skin that feels dry and less supple, combining the complex with butters and squalane.
Sensitive skin cream
A short, fragrance-free formula with the complex and a gentle emulsifier.
Protective cream
A cream for hands or face in cold and windy conditions.
Hair oil
A light hair oil for shine and smoothness on the lengths.
Formulating guidance
Add the complex to the oil phase of emulsions, or blend it into anhydrous products. It is compatible with fatty alcohols, which makes it easy to combine with cetyl and cetearyl alcohol in creams. Add an antioxidant such as mixed tocopherols. Good partners include oat seed oil for comfort and squalane oil for lightness. More oils and lipid complexes are listed in carrier oils.
Claims
Use sensory and visual wording: softer, smoother, more comfortable skin; shinier, smoother hair. Support claims with tests on the finished product.
Who buys these products
Customers with dry, mature or sensitive-feeling skin who prefer rich, comforting textures, and hair care users looking for a light shine oil.
Testing
Run stability at room temperature, 40 °C and under light. Monitor odor for signs of oxidation and check emulsion stability.
Packaging
Airless pumps and tubes for creams, dark glass for oils. Minimal headspace reduces oxidation.
Range planning
A comfort line with a day cream, a night cream and a hand cream can share the complex. A hair oil extends the concept.
Batch quality
Record the lot number from the CoA, check color and odor on arrival and keep retained samples.
Sensory tuning
Because the complex sets much of the feel of a cream, small changes in its proportion make a noticeable difference. Prepare three versions with low, medium and high levels within the CoA range and compare spreading, gloss and after-feel with a small panel. Choose the level that gives comfort without a greasy finish for your target customer.
