Description

The outer layer of the skin contains its own moisturizing system, a mix of amino acids, sugars, lactates and other small molecules known as the natural moisturizing factor, or NMF. Cleansing, cold air and age deplete it. IO Plant Moisturizing Factor Liquid is a liquid complex whose name points to a plant-based answer to that loss.

Product data

Liquid, water-soluble. Applications from the card: night creams, skin moisturizers and body cosmetics. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.

Why NMF-style complexes work well

Each component of NMF holds water in a slightly different way. A complex that combines several of them gives balanced hydration with a pleasant feel, while a single humectant at a high level can leave tack. Plant-derived complexes also fit brands with a natural or vegan story, provided the CoA confirms the source.

Product formats

Night cream

A richer cream that supports comfort while the customer sleeps.

Daily moisturizer

A light lotion that sits well under sunscreen and makeup.

Body lotion

A fast-absorbing lotion for daily use after the shower.

Hand cream

A protective cream for frequent washing.

Formulating guidance

Add the complex to the water phase and check the finished pH. Pair it with high molecular weight hyaluronic acid for a surface film, D-Panthenol for comfort and ceramide NP in the oil phase for a barrier story. More moisturizing ingredients are listed under actives.

Claims

Use cosmetic wording such as hydrated, soft, comfortable skin. Support numbers with corneometer readings or panel tests on the finished product, measured at several time points.

Who the products are for

Customers with dry or tight-feeling skin, people who live in cold or dry climates and anyone who washes frequently. Night creams appeal to those who wake up with dry skin.

The night cream angle

At night, skin loses more water through the surface. A cream that combines humectants such as this complex with occlusive and barrier ingredients gives a strong, simple story: wake up with soft, comfortable skin.

Sensory design

Balance humectants with emollients so the cream feels cushiony without stickiness. Test the after-feel five minutes after application, when tack usually shows.

Testing

Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C, checking pH, viscosity, color and odor.

Packaging

Jars or airless pots for night creams, pumps for lotions, tubes for hand creams.

Batch quality

Keep the CoA for each lot and store retained samples.

Range planning

A moisture line with a night cream, a day lotion and a body lotion can share the complex and one clear claim.

Original recipe: comforting night cream, 100 g

Phase A: water 64.60 g, glycerin 3.00 g, IO Plant Moisturizing Factor Liquid 5.00 g as an example level per CoA, xanthan gum 0.20 g. Phase B: cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate 5.00 g, cetyl alcohol 2.00 g, shea butter 5.00 g, squalane 6.00 g, sweet almond oil 5.00 g, ceramide NP 0.20 g. Heat An and B to 75 °C, emulsify and cool. Phase C below 40 °C: panthenol 2.00 g, preservative 1.00 g, tocopherol 0.50 g, lactic acid solution 0.50 g. Adjust pH to about 5.5.

Seasonal positioning

Moisturizing complexes fit seasonal launches. A winter night cream, a richer hand cream for cold months and a lighter summer lotion can all use the same complex at different levels. This lets marketing refresh the range during the year without new raw materials.

Plant-based story

If the CoA confirms plant origin, the complex supports vegan and natural positioning. Keep the claim factual and matched to the documented source.

Storage

Keep the container closed in a cool place away from light.
