Description
Phytoproline overview
Phytoproline is a liquid concentrate for creams, serums, lotions and body care. It dissolves in water and the supplier specification gives a pH of 5.9. The listed uses are broad: face creams and serums, lotions, massage creams, after-shave products, body-contouring and body-shaping products and after-sun care. The name combines a plant prefix with proline, an amino acid that is one of the main building blocks of collagen. Confirm the exact composition, including any plant components and carriers, on the certificate of analysis.
The proline connection
Collagen is unusually rich in proline and its hydroxylated form. That is why proline and proline-containing complexes are often chosen for firming and skin-structure stories in cosmetics. A plant-positioned complex gives brands a vegan-friendly way to tell that story without animal collagen. Keep the claims cosmetic: firmer-looking, smoother and more supple skin with regular use.
Product ideas
Face creams and serums
Firming day creams and serums for mature skin are a natural fit. The near-neutral pH makes the active easy to combine with most emulsifiers and thickeners.
Body contouring and massage
Body-shaping gels and massage creams are listed in the supplier specification. Massage itself improves the skin feel, and the active adds a smoothing, toned story.
After-sun
After-sun lotions benefit from comforting, skin-conditioning ingredients. A light emulsion with the active and soothing botanicals is a practical concept.
After-shave care
A balm for men can carry the active as a skin-comfort and smoothness component.
Processing
Add Phytoproline to the water phase during cool-down, below 40 °C, and stir until even. In massage products with a high oil load, make sure the emulsion is stable before adding it. Keep the finished pH close to the skin range.
Formula partners
Body-contour ranges often pair firming actives with warming or refreshing ingredients. Caffeine is the classic contour partner, while vanillyl butyl ether adds a gentle warming sensation. More body and face concentrates are in the actives catalog.

Firming body gel-cream recipe, 100 g
Distilled water 79.30 g, carbomer 0.40 g, sodium hydroxide solution 0.80 g, caprylic and capric triglyceride 6.00 g, polyacrylate crosspolymer-6 0.80 g, glycerin 4.00 g, Phytoproline 4.00 g, caffeine 1.50 g, menthyl lactate 0.30 g, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin 1.00 g, fragrance 0.30 g, tocopherol 0.20 g, propanediol 1.40 g. Disperse the carbomer and dissolve the caffeine in warm water, cool, add glycerin and the polymer, emulsify the oil in, neutralize, then add Phytoproline, menthyl lactate dissolved in propanediol, tocopherol, fragrance and preservative below 40 °C.
Dose and texture tips
Body products cover a large skin surface, so texture matters more than in face care. A light gel-cream that absorbs quickly gets used more often, and regular use is what a firming concept depends on. Follow the supplier dose and avoid overloading the formula with many actives: one firming active, one sensory ingredient and good hydration are enough for a convincing product.
Positioning tips
A proline story is easy to explain to consumers: collagen is built from amino acids, and this active brings one of the most important of them in a plant-positioned form. Keep the message on the look and feel of the skin rather than on biology inside the skin. A vegan, collagen-free firming cream is a popular concept that this active supports well.
Storage
Keep the container closed, in a cool place and away from direct light.
