Description
NaturePep Sacha Inchi, a water-soluble seed active
NaturePep Sacha Inchi is a water-soluble liquid active based on the seeds of Plukenetia volubilis, known as sacha inchi or the Inca peanut. The supplier lists creams, serums, lotions and masks for age care and moisture, shampoos, conditioners, masks and leave-ins for damaged-looking hair, and make-up bases and tinted products for skin hydration. The supplier pH is 4.0 to 6.0. Confirm the full INCI and dose on the certificate of analysis. The smallest pack is 0.33 oz (10 mL).
The Inca peanut
Sacha inchi is a climbing vine of the Peruvian Amazon. It forms green, star-shaped pods with large seeds rich in protein and in an oil high in omega-3 fatty acids, and it is known worldwide as a nutritious seed, which gives cosmetic products a recognizable, healthy image.
A different route from the oil
Most cosmetic sacha inchi products use the seed oil. NaturePep is water-soluble instead, and the name points to a peptide-rich profile drawn from the seed proteins. That means it fits serums, toners, gels and shampoos, where an oil would be hard to use.
Formats
Age care creams and serums for a smoother, more supple look, moisturizing lotions and masks for dry and tired-looking skin, hair care for damaged-looking lengths and primers that keep skin hydrated under make-up are all on the list.
Processing and partners
Add NaturePep Sacha Inchi to the water phase below 40 °C, stir until uniform and keep the final pH between 4.0 and 6.0. Pair it with high molecular weight hyaluronic acid in skin care and with biotinoyl tripeptide-1 in hair care. Vegetamide 18MEA-NJ is another plant peptide for hair. More options are in our cosmetic actives section.
