Description
Hydration is the one benefit every skin type, hair type and age group asks for. IO Moisturizing Serum Active is a water-soluble active whose name puts water front and center, and whose card lists an unusually wide range of uses: face, eyes, body, hair, cuticles and even wet wipes.
Product data
Water-soluble, dissolves easily. Applications from the card: gommages, moisturizing serums, cuticle products, wet wipes, conditioners and hair masks, body-contouring programs, eye creams, gels, light serums and face creams. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.
One active, many products
An ingredient that fits face, body, hair and nail care lets a brand build a consistent hydration story across categories. Customers who like the serum can recognize the same promise on a hand cream or hair mask.
Product formats
Light serum
A watery serum for daily use.
Eye cream
A hydrating cream for the eye contour.
Cuticle care
A cream or oil-gel that softens cuticles.
Hair mask
A rinse-off mask for dry lengths.
Wet wipes
Moisturizing wipes for face or body.
Formulating guidance
Add the active to the water phase. Pair it with low molecular weight hyaluronic acid for layered hydration, D-Panthenol for comfort and hydrolyzed keratin in hair masks. Ingredients that pair well with this ingredient are collected under actives.
Claims
Use cosmetic wording such as hydrated, soft, supple skin and moisturized hair. For this ingredient, support numbers with hydration measurements on the finished product.
Who the products are for
Customers with dry or dehydrated skin, frequent hand washers, people with dry cuticles and those with dry, brittle-feeling hair.
Wet wipes
Wipe lotions are mostly water with mild cleansing agents. A moisturizing active helps skin feel comfortable after wiping. Check compatibility with the wipe material and the preservative.
Cuticle care
Cuticle creams are small, focused products. A rich cream with humectants and oils softens cuticles before manicure.
Gommages
In gommages, the active helps skin feel comfortable after exfoliation.
Testing
Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C, checking pH, viscosity and appearance.
Packaging
Droppers for serums, tubes for eye and cuticle creams, jars for masks, resealable packs for wipes.
Batch quality
Keep the CoA for each lot and store retained samples.
Range planning
A serum, an eye cream and a hand and cuticle cream form a hydration line.
Original recipe: light hydrating serum, 100 g
Purified water 85.70 g, glycerin 3.00 g, propanediol 3.00 g, IO Moisturizing Serum Active 3.00 g as an example level per CoA, sodium hyaluronate 0.30 g, hydroxyethylcellulose 0.50 g, panthenol 2.00 g, allantoin 0.20 g, preservative 1.00 g, sodium citrate solution 1.30 g. For IO Moisturizing Serum Active, disperse cellulose and hyaluronate in the glycols, add water and hydrate. Add the active, panthenol, allantoin and preservative. Adjust pH to about 5.5.
Body-contouring programs
The card lists body-contouring programs. Hydration is part of every such routine, because well-moisturized skin looks smoother and reflects light more evenly. Adding the active to contouring gels and lotions supports comfort during daily massage.
Hair conditioner detail
In conditioners, add the active to the water phase before emulsifying, or during cool-down. Pair it with a light cationic conditioning agent for slip.
Seasonal positioning
Winter hand and cuticle creams and summer light serums can share the active and one hydration message.
Storage
Store the container closed in a cool place away from light.
