Description

Proteins and their building blocks are among the most versatile ingredients in personal care. They condition hair, soften skin, form light films and support moisture. IO Moisturizing Protein Complex Liquid is a liquid protein-based ingredient whose card covers an unusually broad range, from appearance-focused cosmetic skin care to cleansing products for weak and damaged hair.

What the card says

Liquid. Soluble in water and alcohol. Applications: appearance-focused cosmetic, rejuvenating-look and moisturizing products; nourishing skin products; after-shave and leave-on cosmetic serum soothing products; skin smoothing and even-tone products; products for thicker-looking hair, for restoring the look of hair and strengthening it; cleansing and care products for weak and damaged hair. The exact INCI, protein source and content are confirmed on the supplier CoA for each lot.

The PF designation

PF is commonly used in trade names to signal a preservative-free grade. If that is the case for your lot, the finished product still requires a full preservation system and a challenge test, and the opened raw material should be handled with particular care.

Skin care uses

Moisturizing creams

Proteins give a soft, cushioned feel and help creams feel nourishing without heaviness.

After-shave balm

A fluid balm with protein, panthenol and a soothing ingredient for skin that feels tight after shaving.

Smoothing serums

A light serum with protein and a hyaluronic acid for a smoother-looking surface.

Hair care uses

Strengthening tonics

Its alcohol solubility allows hydroalcoholic hair lotions applied to the scalp and roots.

Shampoos and conditioners for damaged hair

Proteins adsorb to damaged areas of the hair fiber, making hair feel smoother and stronger.

Formulating guidance

Add the ingredient during cool-down into the water phase or the hydroalcoholic base. Check clarity in transparent products and the pH of the finished formula. Protein ingredients can support microbial growth, so preserve the finished product robustly. For hair concepts, pair with hydrolyzed keratin; for skin, with silk protein hydrolyzate for a silky finish. More conditioning concentrates are listed under actives.

Claims

Use cosmetic wording: softer, smoother, more nourished-feeling skin; stronger-looking, smoother, more manageable hair. Position products used after cosmetic procedures as comfort care only.

Testing

For hair, compare swatches for combing force and shine. For skin, use panel tests on softness and comfort. Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C.

Range planning

A protein line could include a hair mask, a hair tonic and a face cream. The shared ingredient creates a clear story, while formats address different needs.

Odor and color

Protein ingredients often carry a mild characteristic odor and a light yellow tint. Test fragrance coverage at the intended level and decide whether a light color is acceptable in clear products.

Who buys protein care

Customers with colored, bleached or heat-styled hair are the core audience for protein products, together with people who notice their hair breaking when they brush it. On the skin side, men looking for a comforting after-shave and people with dry, tired-looking skin respond well to a nourishing, protein-rich story.

Original recipe: strengthening hair lotion, 100 g
