Description

Hydrolyzed keratin PG-propyl silanetriol at a glance

Hydrolyzed Keratin PG-Propyl Silanetriol is a liquid hair care ingredient. Hydrolyzed keratin is chemically linked to a silanetriol group. It dissolves in water and works between pH 4.0 and 7.0. The supplier specification lists shampoos, conditioners, masks and balms, leave-in products, sprays, fluids, serums and styling products. Confirm the active content on the certificate of analysis.

Keratin with a film-forming twist

Hair is made of keratin, so keratin hydrolysates have a natural affinity for it. Standard hydrolyzed keratin is partly washed away. Linking it to a silanetriol group changes that. Silanetriols can condense into a light, flexible network as the hair dries. The keratin part stays anchored on the hair, and the network gives a longer-lasting strengthening and smoothing effect. Damaged, colored and heat-styled hair benefits most.

Formats

Shampoos and conditioners

Rinse-off products leave part of the ingredient on the hair, enough for a stronger, smoother feel.

Masks and balms

Masks with longer contact time give a more intensive strengthening result.

Leave-ins and sprays

Leave-in sprays, fluids and serums keep the ingredient on the hair and suit heat styling.

How to use it

Add the ingredient to the water phase at cool-down and stir until uniform. Keep the final pH between 4.0 and 7.0. In conditioners, add it after the emulsion has cooled. Follow the dose in the technical sheet.

Partners

Strength-focused hair ranges combine film formers with bond-care and moisture ingredients. Crodasone Cystine adds a cystine-based strength story, and Hydrolyzed vegetable protein PG-propyl silanetriol offers a plant version. More hydrolysate ingredients are in the hydrolysates catalog.

Heat-protect leave-in spray recipe, 100 g

Distilled water 87.50 g, hydrolyzed keratin PG-propyl silanetriol 3.00 g, cetrimonium chloride 1.50 g, glycerin 2.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g, PVP 1.00 g, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil 0.80 g, fragrance 0.30 g, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin 1.00 g, propanediol 1.00 g, lactic acid solution 0.90 g. Dissolve the conditioner, glycerin, panthenol and PVP in water, add the keratin ingredient, premix the fragrance with the solubilizer and add it with propanediol and the preservative, then adjust the pH to about 5.

Animal origin

Keratin is usually obtained from wool or feathers, so products with keratin are not vegan. For a vegan range, the plant protein version of the same chemistry is an option.

Testing

Tensile strength, breakage during repeated combing and heat-damage tests on tresses support strength and protection claims.

Dose guidance

Follow the technical sheet. Leave-in sprays need less than rinse-off masks.

Heat styling and protection

Flat irons and curling tongs reach high temperatures and are among the main causes of weak, brittle hair. Leave-in products with film-forming proteins are applied before styling and help hair feel protected and smooth afterwards. Recommend spraying evenly on damp hair, combing through and then blow-drying or styling. Heat-protection claims should be backed by tress tests at styling temperatures.

Colored and bleached hair

Chemically treated hair is porous and loses protein. A keratin-based film former is a natural fit for color-care ranges, used in the shampoo, the mask and the leave-in.

Storage

Store tightly closed in a cool place, away from heat.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is it different from regular hydrolyzed keratin?

The silanetriol group lets it form a light film network on the hair, which makes the effect more durable.

What pH range works?

The supplier specification gives 4.0 to 7.0.

Is it suitable for heat protection products?

Yes. Leave-in and styling products are listed.
