How to use it

Add HMA Silky to the water phase below 40 °C and stir until uniform. Evaluate the skin feel at several dose levels during development. Keep the final pH in a skin-friendly range. Follow the dose in the technical sheet.

Silky day fluid recipe, 100 g

Distilled water 77.30 g, cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate 3.00 g, hemisqualane 5.00 g, caprylic and capric triglyceride 3.00 g, glycerin 4.00 g, HMA Silky 3.00 g, xanthan gum 0.20 g, niacinamide 2.00 g, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin 1.00 g, fragrance 0.20 g, sodium citrate solution 0.30 g, propanediol 1.00 g. Heat both phases to 75 °C, emulsify, cool, then add HMA Silky, niacinamide, fragrance and preservative below 40 °C and check the pH.

Sensory testing

Run a simple sensory test: apply the product with and without HMA Silky on the forearms of a small panel. Rate spreading, absorption, silkiness, stickiness and residue right after application and after five minutes. This shows clearly what the active adds.

Silicone-free formulation

Many brands now avoid silicones. A water-soluble sensory active, light natural esters and a good emulsifier choice can create a silky feel without silicones. Compare the result with a silicone reference to judge how close you get.

Dose guidance

Follow the dose in the technical sheet. Small amounts often change the feel noticeably, so test several levels.

Where texture matters most

Texture is especially important in products used on large areas or several times a day, such as body lotions and hand creams. A sticky hand cream is quickly abandoned, while a silky one becomes a habit. Face serums are another priority, because they are layered under other products and must not pill or feel heavy. Use the active first in the products where consumers notice feel the most.
