Description

This ingredient at a glance

IO Hair Density Complex Liquid is a hair active offered here as a liquid concentrate. It was created for scalp care brands that want a single, easy-to-dose ingredient for products marketed around denser and fuller-looking hair. Because it arrives as a pourable liquid, there is no dissolving step: you weigh it, add it to a cooled water phase and keep stirring. The page title and pack selector refer to the liquid form, and that is the form this description covers.

What makes it popular

Hair care developers like this ingredient for three reasons. It is water-soluble and blends into clear tonics without haze. It works at modest inclusion levels, which keeps the cost per bottle predictable. The supplier positions it around the hair root area and the look of hair density, so it fits the same shelf as IO Hair Peptide Complex (Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, Red Clover Extract) and IO Hair Care Peptide Complex Liquid. Keep your own claims cosmetic and tied to how the hair looks and feels.

Applications

Leave-on scalp serums in dropper bottles are the most frequent use, followed by spray lotions applied after washing, single-dose ampoules and overnight scalp masks. It also goes into shampoos and conditioners, although contact time in rinse-off products is short. Some brands design a two-step routine: a shampoo with a small amount of the active plus a leave-on serum with the main dose. Browse related hair and skin ingredients in our cosmetic actives catalog.

Working with the concentrate

Prepare the water phase, cool it below 40 °C and add this ingredient with slow mixing. In emulsions, add it after the emulsion has formed and cooled. Use the level stated on the supplier documentation that comes with your lot and keep the finished pH in a skin-friendly zone. Allow a few minutes of mixing for full uniformity before adding fragrance or color.

Quality checks before a launch

Before scaling a scalp serum with this ingredient, run a small pilot batch and keep samples at room temperature, in a warm cabinet and in the fridge for several weeks. Watch for color drift, haze and changes in viscosity. A light amber tone can deepen slightly over time in clear bottles, which is why many brands choose amber or opaque packaging for scalp products. Record the lot number of the active on every batch sheet so you can trace any change back to its source.

Compatibility

The liquid is compatible with water, glycerin, propylene glycol and light hydroalcoholic bases. It sits well beside panthenol, niacinamide, caffeine and most hair peptides. As with any plant-derived or polyphenol-containing active, avoid strong oxidizers and long exposure to heat or light. Run a small stability check if you combine it with high levels of salt or cationic polymers.
