Description
Freeze-dried Aronia at a glance
Freeze-dried Aronia is a powder made from aronia berries, also called chokeberries. The supplier specification states that it does not dissolve in water or oil, so it is dispersed into products rather than dissolved. Aronia berries are among the darkest fruits, rich in anthocyanins and other polyphenols, which give them a deep purple color and a reputation as an antioxidant superfruit. Confirm quality and microbial data on the supplier CoA.
Why freeze-dried
Freeze-drying removes water at low temperature, which keeps more of the berry's color, aroma and natural compounds than heat drying. The result is a fine, colorful powder that is easy to blend into masks, scrubs and other products.
Product formats
Powder masks
Dry masks mixed with water before use.
Cream masks

Scrubs

Lotions and tonics

Fruit-themed shampoos.
Processing
Disperse the powder in glycerin or oil before adding it to the batch to avoid lumps. In liquid products, consider suspending it with a thickener or filtering it after infusion. The powder will color the product purple to pink depending on the pH.
Good partners
Aronia berry extract adds a soluble form. Resveratrol supports the antioxidant story, and kaolin suits powder masks. Browse more in the actives catalog.
Testing
Check color stability under light and at different pH values. Run challenge tests, since plant powders can carry microbes.
Claims
Superfruit antioxidant story; natural color; skin looks fresh and radiant.
Characteristics
Form: powder. Solubility: insoluble in water and oil. Source: freeze-dried aronia berries. Listed uses: lotions, masks, scrubs, shampoos, tonics. Grade: supplier CoA.
Original recipe: berry powder mask, 100 g
Kaolin 55.00 g, rice starch 20.00 g, freeze-dried aronia 10.00 g, oat flour 10.00 g, bentonite 4.00 g, allantoin 1.00 g. Mix all powders in a clean, dry bowl, sieve and store in airtight jars. Users mix one spoonful with water or hydrosol to a paste and apply for ten minutes.
Color and pH
Anthocyanins change color with pH: they look red in acidic products and purple to blue at higher pH. Use this to create attractive colors, but test the final shade over time.
Microbial quality
Plant powders should come with microbial data. Dry powder masks are less sensitive, but water-based products need strong preservation.
Stain risk
Dark berry powders can stain towels and light surfaces. Mention rinsing well in the directions.
Range ideas
A berry mask, a body scrub and a fruity shampoo can share aronia powder.
Lot records
Keep each CoA with the batch file and note the lot used.
Particle size
Fine powders feel smoother in masks, while coarser powders give a gentle scrub effect. Sieve the powder to the size you want and keep it consistent between batches. For tonics and lotions, an infusion followed by filtration gives color and scent without particles.
Fruit story
Berry ingredients tell a fresh, natural story. Combine aronia with other fruits such as blueberry or raspberry for a mixed berry concept, and match the fragrance to the theme.
Shelf life of dry masks
Keep powder masks in airtight jars and advise users to close them after each use.
Lab tip
Wear gloves when weighing dark berry powders, which color skin and benches quickly.
Batch consistency
Natural powders vary from harvest to harvest. Compare the color of each new lot with a retained sample before production.
Storage
Store closed in a cool, dry and dark place. Close the container after use.
