Description

Resveratrol at a glance

Resveratrol is a powder. The supplier specification notes that it dissolves in glycerin and isopropyl alcohol and dissolves well in triglycerides, making them slightly thinner. Resveratrol is a polyphenol produced by plants such as grapes, peanuts and Japanese knotweed. It became famous through research on red wine and is used in cosmetics as an antioxidant. Confirm purity and source on the supplier CoA.

Antioxidants in skincare

Sunlight, pollution and other daily stresses create free radicals that can damage skin lipids and proteins. Antioxidants such as resveratrol, vitamin E and ferulic acid help neutralize them. In formulas, they also protect delicate oils from going rancid. Resveratrol has become a signature ingredient for premium age-defying and brightening products.

Product formats

Face creams

Day and night creams with an antioxidant complex.

Eye creams

Light creams for the delicate eye area.

Light serums

Oil or water-glycerin serums with a concentrated antioxidant.

Brightening products

Processing

Dissolve resveratrol in caprylic capric triglyceride or another triglyceride, warming gently if needed, and add it to the oil phase. For water-based serums, pre-dissolve it in glycerin. Resveratrol is sensitive to light and air, so use airless or opaque packaging and add an extra antioxidant such as tocopherol.

Good partners

Ferulic acid and Mixed tocopherols build an antioxidant complex. Niacinamide supports brightening products. Browse more in the actives catalog.

Testing

Check color over time, as resveratrol can yellow or brown when oxidized. Store samples in light and dark to compare.

Claims

Antioxidant protection; skin looks radiant and even; helps protect skin from daily environmental stress.

Characteristics

Form: powder. Solubility: glycerin, isopropyl alcohol; dissolves well in triglycerides, thinning them. Type: plant polyphenol. Listed uses: peeling gels, moisturizing serums, brightening products, eye creams, gels, light serums, face creams, clarifying products. Grade: supplier CoA.

Original recipe: antioxidant face oil serum, 100 g

Caprylic capric triglyceride 50.00 g, squalane 25.00 g, jojoba oil 18.50 g, resveratrol 1.00 g, mixed tocopherols 0.50 g, rosehip oil 4.50 g, bisabolol 0.50 g. Warm the triglyceride gently, dissolve resveratrol with stirring, cool, add the remaining oils, tocopherols and bisabolol and fill into amber dropper bottles.

Packaging and light

Resveratrol is famous for its antioxidant power but also sensitive to light. Airless pumps, amber glass and opaque tubes keep it fresh longer. Advise users to close the product after use and keep it away from sunlight.

Choosing the level

Antioxidant serums usually use small amounts. Higher levels can add color and make the product harder to stabilize. Start low, test stability and increase only if the formula stays clear and pleasant.

Antioxidant serums are often recommended under a daytime. Mention this pairing in the directions to help users build a complete routine.

Oil versus water-based serums

Because resveratrol dissolves well in triglycerides, oil serums are the simplest format. Water-based gels are possible with glycerin as a carrier, but they need more stability testing. Choose the format according to the texture your customers prefer.

Range ideas

An antioxidant serum, an eye cream and a day cream can share resveratrol for a radiance line.
