Description
Vitamin D is best known for its role in the body, where it is produced in the skin under sunlight. In cosmetics, vitamin D3 is used in protective and appearance-focused cosmetic care, but its oil-soluble nature limits it to oil phases. Vitamin D3 Water-Dispersible Liquid is a liquid ingredient that presents vitamin D3 in a water-soluble format, so it can be added to gels, serums and the water phase of creams.
What the card says
Liquid, water-soluble, pH 5.0 to 7.0. Applications in cosmetics: appearance-focused cosmetic creams, protective day serums, lotions, products for sensitive skin and scalp care. Professional uses include care after peels and laser sessions under professional supervision. The exact INCI, carrier system and vitamin D3 content are confirmed on the supplier CoA for each lot.
Why a water-soluble vitamin D3
Many modern products are water-based: serums, gels, essences, scalp tonics. Including an oil-soluble vitamin in them needs solubilizers or emulsions. A water-compatible format avoids that step and lets the vitamin sit in clear and light textures.
Product ideas
Protective day serum
A light serum used in the morning under sunscreen, combining vitamin D3 with antioxidants and hydration ingredients. Sun protection itself comes from a separate compliant sunscreen.
appearance-focused cosmetic cream
Day and night creams for mature skin with a vitamin-based story.
Sensitive skin lotion
Light, fragrance-free lotions for skin that feels reactive.
Scalp care
Scalp tonics and serums for a healthy-looking scalp. Keep claims cosmetic.
Formulating guidance
Add the ingredient during cool-down, below about 40 °C. Keep the finished pH within 5.0 to 7.0. Vitamin D3 is sensitive to light, air and oxidation, so add an antioxidant such as vitamin E acetate to the formula, minimize air during mixing and use opaque, airless packaging. For a broader vitamin concept, combine it with D-Panthenol. Find more vitamin and protective ingredients under actives.
Regulatory awareness
Vitamin D in cosmetics is subject to specific rules in some markets. Check the regulations that apply to your target market before launch and follow the levels and wording permitted there. Keep claims cosmetic and avoid any reference to vitamin D status in the body.
Communication
Customers know vitamin D from health news, so be careful with expectations. Describe the product as a protective, comforting vitamin care for skin that looks and feels smoother and more resilient. Support claims with tests on the finished product.
Stability testing
Run stability under light, at room temperature and at 40 °C. Check color, odor and pH. Opaque packaging should be part of the test, since it is part of the product.
Who the product is for
Vitamin-based care appeals to customers who want simple, understandable ingredients. A water-soluble vitamin D3 serum can be positioned for urban lifestyles, long indoor days and skin that feels stressed by changing seasons. Keep the communication calm and factual: what vitamin D3 is, why a water-soluble format was chosen and how the product fits into a morning routine with sunscreen.
Original recipe: vitamin day serum, 100 g
