Description
This ingredient at a glance
IO Fat-Soluble Skin and Hair Active Powder is a fine powder that dissolves in fats. The card gives a clear processing instruction: melt it at about 85 °C before adding it to the fat phase of emulsions or to oils and emollients. The working pH range is 5.0 to 6.5. Listed uses cover both skin and hair: appearance-focused cosmetic creams and serums, renewing lotions and ampoules, shampoos, conditioners and serums for thicker-looking hair, professional salon restoring products and professional cosmetic formulas. The INCI name, composition and suggested level are given in the supplier data sheet and CoA.
Skin and hair in one active
Few actives move easily between face care and hair care. This ingredient is listed for both, which makes it useful for brands that want one technology across several categories. A shared active simplifies purchasing and gives a range a consistent story.
Product formats
appearance-focused cosmetic creams
Add the melted active to the oil phase of day and night creams.
Serums and ampoules
Emulsion serums and concentrated ampoules carry it in a small oil phase.
Renewing lotions
Light lotions for a smoother, fresher-looking skin are listed.
Hair care
Shampoos, conditioners and leave-in serums for thicker-looking hair are listed on the card.
Salon products
Professional restoring programs for skin and hair are a natural fit.
Processing
Weigh the powder into the oil phase or into a portion of emollient, heat to about 85 °C and stir until it melts and blends completely. Emulsify with the heated water phase as usual. In shampoos, pre-blend the melted active with a solubilizer or a small amount of oil and add it to the surfactant base while warm. Keep the final pH between 5.0 and 6.5.
Good partners
Peptides and humectants complete an appearance-focused cosmetic cream. In hair products, silk protein adds smoothness, and the IO Scalp Care Crystal Powder scalp active fits a fuller-looking hair story. Browse more in the actives catalog.
Testing
Check that the active stays dissolved after cooling and storage. For hair, test body and volume on tresses; for skin, run instrumental tests and a consumer panel.
Claims
Skin looks smoother and more youthful; hair looks thicker and fuller.

Heat planning
Because the active needs about 85 °C to melt, plan the batch so the oil phase reaches that temperature before emulsifying. Heat-sensitive ingredients such as vitamins and fragrance should still go in at cool-down.
