Description

This ingredient in focus

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 Powder is a powder grade of Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, CAS 616204-22-9. The hexapeptide reproduces a short fragment of SNAP-25, a protein involved in muscle signaling, and has been at the center of expression-line skin care for more than twenty years. On this page it is sold dry by the gram. A dry grade gives full freedom over concentration and solvent and avoids paying to ship water, which is why many labs prefer it to ready solutions.

Properties

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 is associated with a more relaxed, smoother look in areas of repeated facial movement: crow's feet, forehead lines and the area between the brows. It is water-soluble, forms a clear solution and is easy to combine with other peptides. Its long history and widely recognized name make it a dependable first peptide for new brands and a reliable component in multi-peptide formulas.

Applications

Typical products include expression-line serums, eye creams and roll-ons, forehead fluids, lip contour products with a water phase and night creams. It is classically paired with Pentapeptide-18 Powder, and a third peptide such as Mu-Conotoxin CnIIIC can lift the product into a premium tier. How to dissolve and add it

Weigh the powder accurately. Dissolve it completely in a small amount of distilled water until the mixture is clear. Add the dissolved peptide during cool-down, below 40 °C, with gentle mixing, and avoid long heating afterwards. The card does not state an use percentage; follow the CoA for your lot and keep the finished pH mild, about 5.0 to 7.0.

Preparing a stock solution

Because the amounts are small, many labs make a stock solution: a known weight of peptide dissolved in distilled water with a little preservative, labeled with concentration and date and stored in the fridge. For each batch they weigh grams of solution instead of milligrams of powder. Check the stock for clarity before use and replace it regularly according to your stability data. Label the stock bottle with the peptide name, lot number, concentration, preparation date and the initials of the person who made it, so that any batch can be traced back to the exact solution used.

Compatibility

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 is compatible with glycerin, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, niacinamide, caffeine, allantoin and other peptides. It suits gels, serums and oil-in-water emulsions. Avoid strong acids, strong bases, oxidizers and long heating. Copper peptides are best kept in a separate product. Strongly perfumed bases are not ideal for eye-area use.

Original recipe: crow's feet roll-on, 100 g

Peptide premix: Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 Powder 0.05 g and Pentapeptide-18 Powder 0.03 g, dissolved together in distilled water 3.00 g. Phase A: distilled water 87.92 g, glycerin 3.00 g, sclerotium gum 0.60 g; disperse the gum in the glycerin and add to the water. Phase B below 40 °C: the peptide premix, caffeine 0.50 g dissolved in warm water and cooled, panthenol 1.00 g, aloe vera juice 3.00 g. Phase C: eye-safe preservative 0.90 g. Mix gently, adjust pH to about 6.0 and fill into roll-on bottles.

Record the lot number of this ingredient in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis.

Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.

Storage

Keep the powder sealed in a cool, dry place away from light and humidity. Let the container reach room temperature before opening. Ships from Florida in gram packs.
