Description

CobioDefender EMR at a glance

CobioDefender EMR is a protective skin care active from Spain built on glycogen. Its INCI is Aqua, Glycerin, Glycogen. It is a clear to light yellow liquid, water-soluble, with a pH of 4.5 to 7.0. The supplier calls it a glycogen complex, a cell energy complex and an anti pollution glycogen active. EMR in the name points to electromagnetic radiation, one of the modern stress factors the active is designed to address, alongside city pollution and digital exposure.

Glycogen, the energy reserve

Every cell needs energy. Muscle and liver cells store it as glycogen, a large, branched molecule made of many glucose units. Skin cells hold glycogen too, and its level is linked to their activity and resilience. When skin is under stress from pollution, screens, lack of sleep or a busy city life, it looks tired, dull and less elastic. CobioDefender EMR supplies glycogen in a cosmetic form to support the energy potential of skin cells and help skin cope with these daily stresses.

What the supplier describes

The active helps protect skin from external factors, supports cell energy, has marked moisturizing and protective properties and helps maintain the barrier function. It is used in care for skin with signs of stress and fatigue and improves the look and tone of the skin. It fits modern urban, protective, anti pollution and digital skin care formulas, and it is compatible with both water and emulsion systems.

Dosing by product

Facial serums use 1 to 5%. Creams and emulsions use 1 to 3%. Gels and fluids use 1 to 5%. Professional concentrates and salon programs use up to 5%. Body lotions and creams use 1 to 3%.

How to formulate

Add CobioDefender EMR to the water phase, ideally at cool-down. Glycogen is a large sugar molecule, so it adds a light, smooth feel and supports hydration together with the glycerin in the blend. Keep the finished product between pH 4.5 and 7.0. For a complete city defense line, combine it with ectoin, known for protection against environmental stress, and with polyglutamic acid for surface hydration. More protective actives are in the cosmetic actives section.

Product ideas

Urban defense serums, anti pollution day creams, digital detox fluids, energizing morning gels, anti-fatigue eye care, protective body lotions and salon anti stress concentrates are the main uses.

Sample recipe: urban defense fluid, 100 g

Distilled water 79.70 g, CobioDefender EMR 4.00 g, glycerin 3.00 g, caprylic/capric triglyceride 5.00 g, squalane 2.00 g, glyceryl stearate citrate 3.00 g, xanthan gum 0.30 g, ectoin 0.50 g, panthenol 1.00 g, preservative 1.00 g, citric acid solution 0.50 g. Heat water and oil phases to 75 °C, emulsify, cool below 40 °C, add CobioDefender EMR, ectoin, panthenol and the preservative, and adjust to about pH 5.5.

Building an energy story

Energy is an easy concept For formulators building consumer-facing cosmetics. A morning serum that wakes up tired looking skin, a fluid for long screen days and a night cream for leave-on cosmetic use can all share the glycogen story, with the dose adjusted to each product.

Professional and SPA use

The supplier lists professional cosmetology, anti stress programs, device based care and the SPA and wellness industry among the uses. In salon programs, a concentrate with up to 5% can be applied after cleansing and before a mask, for example in a post flight or after work leave-on cosmetic use ritual. Home care products at 1 to 3% keep the effect going between visits.

Texture and compatibility

Glycogen does not thicken a formula much, so it can go into thin fluids and sprays as well as creams. It is compatible with water and emulsion systems, with common thickeners and with most actives. Check the stability of the full formula at 45 °C for several weeks, as with any new active.

Claims

Use visual and sensory claims: skin that looks less tired and more energized, a fresher, more even tone, better hydration and help in defending skin against daily urban stress.

Storage

Store in a dry, cool room in a tightly closed container, protected from light. A certificate of analysis comes with every lot.
