Description

About this ingredient

IO Calming Peptide Powder is a peptide supplied as a dry powder and sold by the gram. It is used in comfort care for skin that feels sensitive, tight, tingling or stressed, and in products for a scalp that feels uncomfortable. Our product record lists a wide compatible pH window, which makes it easy to place in many bases. The full INCI and peptide content are printed on the CoA for every lot. A liquid grade, IO Comfort Peptide Liquid, is sold separately for brands that prefer a ready solution.

Why choose the dry grade

A dry peptide keeps well, ships light and lets a laboratory prepare exactly the amount of solution it needs. It is a good choice for brands that already weigh small quantities of actives and want flexibility in the water content of their products. Smaller laboratories may prefer the liquid grade for convenience.

Who uses comfort care

Many people describe their skin as sensitive, especially in cold weather, after shaving or when using strong actives. They look for short ingredient lists, fragrance-free products and a clear explanation of each active. A well-known peptide name in a minimal formula answers this need.

Product formats

Calming face serums, sensitive-skin day creams, anti-stress night creams, after-shave balms and scalp serums are the main formats. Pair the peptide with IO Soothing Plant Active Liquid for a botanical comfort story or with Ceramide NP for barrier support. Explore similar actives in our peptides catalog.

Dissolving the powder

Weigh the powder on a precise scale and dissolve it in a small portion of the water phase at room temperature with gentle stirring. Once the product base has cooled below 40 °C, add the solution and mix well. Avoid prolonged heat. The wide pH window in the product record gives freedom in pairing, but keep the final product in a skin-friendly range.

Scalp comfort

A scalp that feels tight, itchy or oily is a common complaint, especially in men. A light, non-greasy scalp serum with the peptide, a humectant and a cooling agent can be massaged in after washing. Keep the claims cosmetic: for a scalp that feels uncomfortable, or for a more balanced-feeling scalp.

Men's care

Men often shave daily and use few products. A two-in-one after-shave balm and moisturizer with the peptide, a light emollient and panthenol fits this routine. A quick-absorbing texture and a discreet scent improve acceptance.

Base design for sensitive skin

Choose a mild emulsifier, leave out fragrance and essential oils, use gentle preservation and pack the product in an airless pump. Many reactions in sensitive-skin users come from the base, so these choices matter as much as the active.

Claims and testing

Consumer panels with self-assessed sensitive skin, together with tolerance testing under dermatological control, support comfort claims. Use wording such as soothes the feeling of discomfort, for reactive-feeling skin and reduces the feeling of tightness.
